Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
Really, I try to avoid ever saying "don't get this gear, it's bad" on this forum, or anywhere and prefer listeners to make their own choices.  Wattgate is a rare exception and I think consumers are safer and better off with a $5 part from the hard...
Using both balanced and single ended outputs at the same time?
@fastfreight This is very equipment specific. Most high quality devices which offer balanced outputs just mirror the hot signal with similar components, but perhaps only at the very output stage. It’s a bit of fear mongering to say that balanced o...
Thinking about going electrostatic
I also concur that your living space is a big factor.  Having space behind and to the sides is important.  Check their manual online or ask others for the ideal placement.
What happened to Mytek?
Thanks guys, some of this I was aware of, like having to find a new factory. I didn't realize they had their business partner decide to compete with them. The last I really followed them they were developing the Empire, which had essentially 2 mi...
Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
@jea48 I go into the details of the Wattgate in my blog. Essentially series of questionable choices regarding the length of the body, shortness of the pins and the contact method resembling the prongs of a backstab outlet connection, in addition ...
Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
Rarely has an audio accessory pissed me off as much as the Wattgate connectors.
Would like to get more bass out of my B&W 801 series 2 speakers
Just saw your picture.  Your best option is to treat your ceiling and bring your speakers out from against the wall if at all possible, otherwise treat wall directly behind with as thick absorbers you can afford. The ceiling is going to substitut...
What happened to Mytek?
They just exhibited at Capitol AudioFest so it would seem they’re still around.  Every year or two you read about communication problems with them so maybe it’s that time of year again. @marco1   Well that's good to know!  And yes, exactly.  ...
Wattgate IEC does not fit tight.
Yeah, congrats, I’ve had this exact problem and it appears by design. I did an in depth analysis here. In addition to the models failing to seat properly, the other issue is the construction materials.  I found the assembly screws to be very so...
Would like to get more bass out of my B&W 801 series 2 speakers
Hey, So question is, are your speakers overall in a reflective environment?  A reflective room will accentuate the mid and treble ranges.  Where are your speakers placed in relationship to the rear and side walls?
What happened to Mytek?
Honestly it’s a little rude to ask someone if they are dead directly. Thought I’d ask here to see if anyone had insight, plus my experience say with Theta Digital, was that when you do get a response it’s not necessarily very straightforward.  If ...
The Streamer-Dac-Preamp Chain
I'm afraid I'm not sure about the price, but I'd keep it simple.  Either stick with Moon or consider T+A or Bricasti. I'd suggest Mytek but I'm not really sure how/where they are in terms of manufacturing. Another MAJOR consideration is the user ...
Power supply for ethernet switch?
Ethernet jitter has nothing to do with DAC jitter.  Or should not.  The reason is buffers built into the streamers, which may hold several seconds worth of music.  The buffer's output is doled out by the DAC chip itself on demand. Even a loss of ...
What speaker has the best tweeter?
Another 4 year old thread resurrected.
Furman IT Reference 20i PC price differences
No idea but get the cheaper one. :) Furman is often on sale depending on where you look. Nothing wrong with them. I would suggest the 15i is the right size for most. Also, this model is substantially cheaper. It does not have balanced outputs bu...
