Vinyl records & Discwasher cleaner
If you’re missing the old discwasher, then go and get Last All Purpose Record Cleaner a bottle comes with brushes that work many times better than the old discwasher.
Concentration
Another great question. I find listening to music very rewarding in three ways. The most profound first. 1. Lights off, eyes closed. Opening my mind as in mindfulness meditation. Not focusing on the music... letting it in and emotionally connect....
Wi Fi Digital Source
@mswale +1 Yep. You want to make sure your portable devices are controlling your Innuos, not streaming to it. So, you should be connected to your Innuous, not connected to Tidal on your phone/pad. If you are connected to Tidal on your portable ...
What's ideal size for a listening room?
Larger and more open sounds like the better choice. "Filling" is a very mixed bag. The smaller the room the more problems are reflections. I have a big Z shaped room(s). about 35 by 40. It is ideal. There are hall ways and asymmetries everywhere. ...
What does you reference rig do better than your vintage rig or vice versa?
Great / beautiful systems. Looks like both could benefit enormously from careful room treatments and possibly positioning.  You're going to hear every imperfection on your reference rig.
Vinyl records & Discwasher cleaner
I think most everyone that was serious about music remembers them. Not of great value, although they sure looked like they would do something. I got a VPI vacuum cleaner over thirty years ago and cleaned all my records and then the thousand of so ...
Footers under new speakers
Congratulations Mike. Glad to hear you had such a great experience as well. They really make a profound difference... hard to believe... but that is one of the reasons it is such a fascinating pursuit.
lightning storm
@Wolf_garcia Perhaps flying an aluminum foil kite with thing copper "string".
what system musicians prefer? Do they care?
The musicians I know listen to the notes, the composition and the performance... it is a focus on the fundamental's of the music... how well it is reproduced is not in their focus. I had a friend of mine who is a professional touring musician and ...
glowing red output tube, but don't think it's red-plating
Looks like a pretty amp from your photo What is your system? Fortunately I have no experience with failing tubes, so I can't proffer and answer. But it does sound like you have a lot  of tube failures. Crossed fingers. I run nearly forty tubes an...
Pulled the trigger on a Moon 861! Hope it pairs well on my Focals
Yes, you are using the Eversolo as a preamp...that it why your system is not sounding good. All should be good when you put your Mac back in.
what system musicians prefer? Do they care?
@daveyf    +1 Audiophile musicians are about as rare among musicians as are audiophiles among the general population.
Pulled the trigger on a Moon 861! Hope it pairs well on my Focals
So, you are using your DAC straight into the amp... that is the issue. It is the input to your amp that determines the volume you get out. Your preamp should provide the input voltage (I think that is the parameter). An amp does not vary its ampli...
Need Ideas on speaker cables
Given your system, I would think you would want cables that are on the natural musical side, if so then the best Cardas (used). If your want more detailed the DHLabs. Anti cables have a nice balance.
Your advice appreciated: Bookshelf Speakers for my Conrad Johnson CAV45-S2
@billstevenson "That C-J amp is way too nice to use with a pair of mediocre speakers." +1 Maybe look at used Totem.
