Karen Carpeneter died 42 years ago.
chrisoshea - you're the one who is on a thread called "Karen Carpenter died 42 years ago". Odd place to be if you want to whine about having a fixation on Karen Carpenter. Do you normally spend time on forum threads in which you have no interest?
Record Store Day 2025 List
@tablejockey - 'We Built This City' was not the Airplane of ANY period. That was Jefferson Starship; Jefferson Airplane was a San Francisco band. No Jack and Jorma, no Airplane. 'We Built This City' is about LA. And you are right, it is horribl...

Sonic Youth were big fans of Karen Carpenter; they even wrote a couple of songs for/about her....
Movie/film suggestions.
Yes, 'Madness' is appropriate indeed. I'm a huge David Lynch fan - he and Stanley Kubrick were always my 2 favorite film-makers; the painter and the still photographer - when he announced a few weeks ago that he'd had emphysema for 4 years and ne...
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
@disc - one of the best FM rock stations ever was WHFS in Bethesda (I'm from Silver Spring), which I think is still going; don't know if it's still independent or not.
Turntable Mats for Technics Grand Class, "G" Series
I've got a 1200G and I use a Stein Music 'The Perfect Interface' Pi mat. It's the only mat I've ever used on it, and it sounds excellent. Might have sounded just as excellent with something less expensive, but I'm happy.
Does anyone listen to the radio anymore?
I've not listened to the 'radio' since the early 90's.

Anyone Know the Band Playing on T-Mobile Commercial?
Wish I'd heard the commercial a few years ago, I could have helped - I know that song really well, they used to play it all the time back then on our 'alternative' station in San Francisco...
For Tube Folks...
'NOS' stands for 'New Old Stock', not 'New Original Stock'.

Any Audiophiles Here Have Experience with Hearing Aids?
@moto_man - if you've got a Costco nearby, you might want to investigate their hearing clinic; I sure did like buying a pair of last year's top-of-the-line Jabra hearing aids there for $1500 instead of the $6000 - $8000 I'd paid at regular audiolo...
Music/Life
@roxy54 - "Hey Hey My My" was from the 70's, not the 80's.
Woodstock 1969, or 1967?
@re-lar-kvothe + 1 - The thread title says 'Woodstock', not 'Americana' or 'The Band'. Personally I don't let Eric Clapton or George Harrison or Bob Dylan or anybody else decide what I should like and what is 'good'; I prefer to choose for myself...
Woodstock 1969, or 1967?
The 'psychedelic horsesh*t' was plenty fine by me. Unless Ertegun was being humorous, why trash what others like and what you sell just to support somebody else that you like? Is it not possible to like both the Band and all that great 'psychedeli...
