Trojan Warning?
That was happening to me on here a few weeks ago, but then it stopped.
any members in Montana
Did anybody run into any dental floss tycoons there? Dental toss flycoons? Pygmy ponies? Of course I'm referring to Frank Zappa's "Montana".
Are Headphones Fit for Serious Music Listening?
@musicaddict - I've got a 5-figure 2-channel system and am not short on funds, and I also have about $15K worth of headphone gear which I love just as much. Real quality headphones through quality headphone amps and DACs bear no resemblance to 'n...
Just Getting Started With Headphones
@mulveling - while I've not personally heard them yet, the Empyrian 2's and the Elites are not supposed to be as dark/thick as the original Empyrians are.
Do you listen to your music with your eyes open or closed or a combination of both?
Both - it often depends on the music....
Who's winning?
In my philosophy, the person who is totally enjoying an experience is 'winning' over somebody who is not. Might not even be 'winning' or 'losing', just 'different'.
Hearing Aids
The low/mid/high 'EQ' on my Jabras works fine for me; I usually don't need to touch them when listening on the 'music' program, but if I'm watching telly and want to hear the dialogue better, I just turn up the mids and highs a bit and that works ...
Ultrasonic cleaning of 45 flexidiscs?
I wouldn't test it out on something you don't mind sacrificing in case it turns out you can't clean flexidiscs in ultrasonic...
More on XLR vs RCA considerations?
Sometimes the output voltage is different between a SE and a balanced; I know it's that way with some DACs, like the Holo Audio May...  For whatever reason, a lot of tube headphone amps tend to be SE only.
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
@jreiter - Styx opened for Marty Robbins??!!! That's inspired! Dang, somebody should start a thread about the most unlikely-billed shows they've ever gone to..
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
@kqvkq9 - I moved to San Francisco in 1973 and I've been here ever since; I was in the retail and wholesale record business from '74 - '84 so I got to see a lot of shows for free.  The New Riders weren't really any wing of the Grateful Dead; just...
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
@alvinnir2 - I've got that immense Woodstock box set and was able to hear all the bands that played there in order; Santana was indeed awesome, and they were the first band there that actually ROCKED.
The best opening act you've ever seen & heard?
@kqvkq9 - I was at a number of those shows - Who's Dead (I've seen them hundreds of times; at every one of those shows, they often stopped between songs and talk and tune up and all that. I don't think that was special for you, but who knows?), Mo...
How often do you upgrade turntable ?
@huang - Not unless you want to!
Do you agree with John Atkinson (and me)?
I'll always do physical media as well as stream because I like having physical album cover art to look at and info to read, and all the extras, booklets, etc you get with deluxe box sets, be they digital or vinyl. Streaming is a good way for me to...
