Is there any truth to this question? Glad to have phase drug into this discussion.also needed is the fact that while same-power amps will make about the same amount of heat driving a resistor, the same can not be said when driving a reactive load. That's when people start talking abo...
Best DAC for $500 I'm looking into the DACMagic Plus. The ability to directly drive an amp, the headphone output AND the BlueTooth Dongle are all selling points to me. Not to mention the async USB and a pair of tos/coax inputs. Very Flexible.All-up with the dongle?...
How do I stream radio to my system? My dishnetwork account includes a couple dozen Sirius / XM feeds. From the small dish box, optical to a DAC to stereo.I use the regular remote....a Logitech.iTunes has a bunch of radio presets and the ability to 'go to a URL'. I've used the presets...
Wireless to my audio system ? 2nd the AE or AppleTV (ATV!)you do NOT need a wireless router when using MAC. I run my AE as a 'client', which is a dead end connection. I use my iPod Touch as 'remote'. You can even listen to internet radio, though I'm still trying to figure out ...
Is there any truth to this question? Pass gets mentioned a lot in discussions like this. 2 gain stages simple enough for 'ya? I've read thru his DIY stuff and many amps are simple 'scale ups' of a basic design. More output devices in parallel with minimal matching. Increased PS size ...
magnepan 1.7 or 3.7 vs spendor s8e If you can't borrow some or are not familiar OR if you just want to hear them in your own home, a Low-Risk idea would be to send off for a pair of MMG.They have some deal, which you should check out FIRST about upgrade at full credit for 30 or 60 ...
What will raising the Va of atransformers provide? A household circuit is rated for something like 80% of capacity for full time use and only short term @100%.I don't know rule-of-thumb, but a total of 1000va of transformer will put out a BUNCH of power continuously and still allow dynamic peaks.....
Psvane Teflon capacitors real or fakes? The DOWNSIDE of pure copper is that it oxidizes like crazy and the resulting oxide is a diode. Not at all how I want a capacitor to act. What is the conductivity of BeCu? And to go all metalurigical on you, how much Beryllium is added to these alloy...
RFI Interference Just a thought::IF the volume of the radio station doesn't change with changes in volume control level, that would tell me it is coupling in AFTER the preamp gain stage, which would presumably change the level of the RFI, as well. The fact that it...
Flexy rack threaded rod material One thing which may make a difference is using rod with the Acme Thread.
My Last CD player, need ideas Cambridge Audio 840c.Balanced outs.Upsamplling2x toslink / 2x coax inputs.coax/toslink outputs.........I don't know, offhand, who vends their transport.
Multi Channel Amp question I had posted an answer....earlier, which I guess went into the great electronic beyond.I think if the modules are complete with power supply / transformer, you could recase them in either mono or as desired configs.....If Outlaw will sell you a ca...
Psvane Teflon capacitors real or fakes? Did that last nite. For a second, I though my computer had turned on me.C'est la vie.
Multi Channel Amp question remove and store against the day of some catastrophic failure....like a lightning strike? Each module has it's own transformer and power supply? You could always buy a new chassis (maybe?) and build / sell another amp.
Ways to Reduce Atmospheric Noise I bought a new fridge last year to replace a 20 year old GE.New fridge is enough quieter to make a difference and runs FAR LESS which is worth about 50 KwH per month reduction vs the old electric bill. The reduction works out to missing about 6 we... |
