What's up with Harmon Kardon receiver line?
HK has always produced unique looking designs generally with pretty good and distinctive sound as well, I'd say. I think those who go for HK a/v equipment are attracted to the unique appearance and control layout, some but fewer to the distinctive...
Gallos ohms mirages or deuvels
Ohm over Gallo Reference on all three counts. Gallo imaging compared to Ohm with everything set up properly is probably the closest call. The Ohms are hard to beat in the transparency and sound stage departments. Never heard deuvals so not sure. P...

"My son never touched my stereo. I actually took the time to teach him what a toy is! And it worked. Never moved a thing and he never touched it. "Same true with my kids...they never touch my stuff...intentionally.But remember accidents can happen...
Simple System for a Super Senior?
By the way, kudos to you also for looking out for your Dad. Sounds like he is a music lover and this should be one of the most rewarding investments you can make. Just keep it care free and enjoyable, as recommended.Cheers!
DAC as an upgrade
Jeffkad,Thanks for the additional info.Ive researched both the Bel Canto and Benchmark DACs of late and both are leading contenders currently in my mind. There is still not much I can truly fault with my stock Denon, though I'm sure I can do bette...
Questions about Preamp Tubes
"My understanding is that it becomes very, very hard to differentiate between tube/SS in high-end products; however, is this the case in lower-end models?"This is a very good question. I think you are on to something here. I've noticed that the be...
