EAR 88pb, Opinions? Considering the fact that I owned and home auditioned a good number of very highly regarded preamps up to $12,000, and didn't get from them the kind of complete satisfaction the EAR 88pb gives me for much less money, I'd say the EAR is a real barg...
Synergistic Research Acoustic vs Precision Refere? Aside from Synergistic, why not have The Cable Company send you a pair of JPS Superconductor 3 for audition. I think you'll be very impressed.
Ferrite Ring filters bad for Interconnects? Ostensibly, the purpose of ferrite filters is to "clean up" the sound (get rid of hash). In my experience, at least, they eliminate too much, i.e., part of the music's body, and with it, some of the enjoyment of listening.
Can you reccomend a cable for my VAC 140's I have used a number of very fine cables, but I find JPS Superconductor 3 to be the best for a wonderful sense of presence, detail and musicality with my Air Tight ATM-3 monoblocks.
JPS Superconductor vs. Aluminata jumpers Thanks very much, Harnellt. I've gone with the Aluminata jumpers. Incidentally, I'm using the JPS Superconductor 3 speaker cables. So far, they've made a very big difference over other cables I've had, and I've had some very good ones. With my Rid...
silver with tubes and copper with solid state ?? Like some of the others, I too have a hodge podge. I'm currently using Cardas Golden Reference phono cable (copper), Ridge Street Poiema 3 interconnect (silver), JPS Superconductor 3 speaker cable (copper coated aluminum and copper) and Ridge Stre...
Help with upgrading speaker cables JPS Superconductor 3 speaker cables would seem to fit your description. They have constituted the single, most wonderfully sounding cable change ever IN MY SYSTEM. I find them more natural sounding, musical and listenable/relaxing than both the Sy...
Triple deionized water for cleaning lps ? Guess I'm just looking for something that does a good, but not near perfect job of cleaning. I don't particularly care to go through a half-dozen "tender loving care" steps, nor do I want the kind of "rolled off highs" and darkened sound I experie...
Triple deionized water for cleaning lps ? Rel: I found the article you recommended to be particularly interesting and helpful. Kind thanks.
Triple deionized water for cleaning lps ? Okay, I'll take my pure water "with a grain of salt"
Cable elevators - conventional wisdom wrong? I fully agree with Rushton. Like him, my dedicated listening room has synthetic carpet, and also like him I have used pieces of cardboard (and have for years) to keep speaker cables elevated with the same significant results he has obtained. Howev...
CARDAS Fans: Golden vs. Neutral vs. Presence? Flkn: What are you using for interconnect, and what for phono cable if you listen to lps ? Thanks very much.
Cartridges for rear of stage orchestral resolution I have not had Stringreen's direct long term exposure with the concert hall, but based even on my less involved experiences there, I must again agree with him. There is a significant (and very fascinating) difference between what is conveyed in th...
Cartridges for rear of stage orchestral resolution My reference to depth not being there refers to the kind of artificial depth so typically heard in component systems that reproduce music. At a live concert I hear rear row instruments with nearly the same measure of presence as those playing in c...
Cartridges for rear of stage orchestral resolution First, I agree 100% with Stringreen when he says, "Go to a concert, close your eyes and listen for depth...It's not going to be there." I have heard various component systems produce thoroughly unrealistic depth numerous times. To me it is excessi... |
