Rega planar 3 (50th Anniversary) For a couple more dollars you can get the P6 which is a better unit. I would recommend that route.
Speakers 10 years old or older that can compete with todays best, When I first heard of the Sony SS-AR-1 I knew I should investigate. They were special.
Quality of Sirius XM It reminds me of AM stereo.
Looking for a great phono pre-amp in the $1000 or less range Audio by Van Alstine make a very good unit that won't break the bank but will work well with either MM or MC cartridges.
Phono preamp, all suggestions welcome Audio by Van Alstine makes a good phono preamplifier that won't break the bank. It handles MM and MC with aplomb.
Marantz SA-10 I run a Marantz SA-Ki Ruby. I placed 4 Stillpoints under it and it made the machine sound better. The extremes such as bass and treble really perked up after the Stillpoints were installed.
The new Linn LP12 50th Anniversary edition The Scotsman likes money. Period.
I got 127 records from the mid 40, 50 and early 60s that need a lot of cleaning If they are very dirty a hand wash in mildly warm soapy water would be the place to start. Thoroughly rinse the record afterwards, gently dry it with a soft cloth and let dry in a rack of some sort. I have and Audio desk and a Loricraft, but for ...
Luxman D03X vs D10X Check out Steve Guttenberg's review of the Luxman D10X. He said it was the best unit he had ever heard with the best DAC extant. Whether this the gospel truth or not I cannot say. But, Luxman are my favorite CD\SACD players today.
Ultrasonic: should I do it? I actually rinse after every step. I use a plastic eye dropper to evenly distribute the Spin Clean fluid over the entire surface of the cleaning brushes. This way the lead in grooves and the first track and a half are affected by the cleaning solu...
Ultrasonic: should I do it? I own an Audio Desk cleaner. I also own a Spin Clean and a Loricraft. I use the Spin Clean first. At least 60 revolutions to knock the bark off’em. Then I clean them on the Loricraft with a cleaner that can remove oils, soaps, and grease, such as...
AT-ART9 cartridge on Marantz TT-15s1 - I don't think I'm getting the performance I should I owned a Marantz like yours and was underwhelmed. I compared it directly against my old REGA RB 300 equipped AR turntable that the Marantz was supposed to replace. The Sam Tellig special complete with the Shure Ultra 500 for good measure. The AR ...
Audio Technica AT33PTG/II MC Cartridge, anyone have it or heard it? The AT 33 PTG 11 is an exceptional cartridge for the money if you have the phono stage to use it. A step up with a 1 in 20 gain will work very well. Get a good interconnect between the step up and the phono stage and enjoy.
PSB T3 I have not heard better bass from a floor standing/tower, have you? Under $7.5K I own a pair of T3's and enjoy them. I auditioned many speakers; indeed many more expensive models. For the dollar they are excellent. Even though I am a fair sized man, I did not want 300 pound speakers. My only gripe is the binding posts. It cou...
Subsonics with Grado & Rega Arm A tonearm rewire would probably remedy this situation. A typical 3 wire set up is required for a Grado. Without a dedicated ground wire problems like those posted happen. |
