A Tube Change Really Can Make A Difference
Agree as to the Popes ... not certain about the Visseaux. Regardless, the Popes sound wonderful.
Best Way to Integrate Subwoofers?
I’ve thought about this a lot and have tried it both ways. At this point, I run the mains full range and bring in the sub at around 60Hz. Why this choice? Because it occurred to me that the capacitors in my preamp are likely far better than the me...
A tubed integrated amp for Joseph Audio Pulsars?
Apparently, cone material not the only upgrade. The latest report by Soundstage on the Pulsar 2 says that the midrange-woofer driver’s entire motor system and suspension have been improved for better bass and midrange performance. Moreover, Sounds...
Incoming ... Joseph Audio Pulsars
Also from the latest Soundstage report ... "The new Pulsar 2 Graphene is priced at $12,000 per pair ..." That’s an increase of $4,300 over the price of the original Pulsars. Unless the upgrade is a spectacular game changer, and unless an upgrade w...
Incoming ... Joseph Audio Pulsars
As far as I can tell, the new SEAS cone is still cast-magnesium (like in the original Pulsar), but is now "coated" with graphene. Not sure that this is a night and day difference; however, the fact that they are using the same base material (i.e.,...

Kids during audition - aaaaagh!!
I don't even bother anymore. No more auditioning my system for the unappreciative. When it comes down to brass tacks, most non-audiophiles could care less about good sound. So, I have stopped trying to persuade them, and I will no longer go to the...
Soundstaging and Imaging: The Delusion about The Illusion
@geoffkait ... I really don't think I missed the OP's point. Imaging is real based on the disappearance of the speaker, IMHO.
Soundstaging and Imaging: The Delusion about The Illusion
In my simple way of viewing of things, "imaging" is when a speaker disappears so that sound is non-directional and more akin to a soft focus. I find this more achievable by 2 way speakers than 3 ways.
Dealer Behavior
Toys from the Attic in White Plains, NY was the place I used to frequent when the audio bug first bit me. I was able to audition a lot of equipment at home just by giving them my credit card ... if I wanted to buy it, they put the charge through; ...
What are the speakers you very rarely find in the Used market(Audiogon or Anywhere)?
I have seen recently only one pair of Pulsars up on the 'Gon. I have not seen too many of them for sale here or elsewhere. I could be wrong, but that is my experience.

Any model from Joseph Audio ... people tend to keep ’em.
What decibel level do you listen at?
Generally, around 65dB ... small room, and it's plenty loud.
Bit the Bullet ... Don Sachs Model 2 Preamp
Yes ... it is extremely quiet.
To Sell or Keep?
At some point, I may consider a second system and can fit the BAT into that one. Also, I want to spend a good deal of time with the DS to ensure that I'm not listening currently with rose colored ears.
