Question about byamplification
So, what’s the point on adding an external crossover if I won’t be able to change the crossover point at the end of the chain. I guess external crossovers are for speakers without internal crossovers. Am I missing something? A bi-amp or tri-amp...

How about Forte IVs? People seem to like them very much.
I don't want to beat a dead horse but I'm bugged.
Tube equipment won’t spec as well as transistor. It seems Amir does not make any concessions to design type, where as Stereophile makes comparisons to similar designs, not chalk and cheese. If the piece under test doesn’t measure as well as an ...

Too Much Power
I was answering what sounded like a more general question.

we can simulate/model how that will change the frequency response.  I seem to have an attraction to hard to drive loudspeakers. Some with wild impedance swings and nasty phase shifts. I had one amp that totally rejected one frequency with one l...
Too Much Power
are the drawbacks to that much power? Size, weight, heat, and if the gain values are high perhaps a little noise but quality amps are very quiet today.
Finally found my amp/integrated for Martin Logan Summit X electrostatics
Outstanding.
Staticky noise when music paused
You have confirmed it is not the DAC. Not really, the DAC might have more gain and the noise is being amplified through the system.
Bookshelf dilemma
I like my Warfedale Lintons, I think you will like them.
Question about byamplification
Get a crossover. The DBX is a very affordable unit and works great. Model 223XS. I run a similar unit on my big system and it works good and solves all crossover issues.

can I surmise with some accuracy that high output resistance of the average tube amplifier compared to the average solid state amplifier with typical speakers will be the dominant contributor to "sonic signature".  Amp and speaker interaction c...
Staticky noise when music paused
Unless some noise from the computer is an issue usually it's a gain mismatch that causes audible hiss. An attenuator might help with this issue, it will drop the noise floor.
B&K vs ADA which to buy?
The fan ( the velocity of air ) can be noisy ( audible ), but that can easily be taken care of. Not to get too far off topic but how do you make a fan quiet. When I played records the surface noise was louder than the fan but with CDs, I could ...
