If your speaker is broken, send it back to Vandersteen to fix it.   Even though its an older model, it will produce very musical sounds.  The Vandersteen website can be intimidating....many on that site have systems that approach a million dollars...

I remember using Purist cables on my Thiels......they seemed to tame the highs and expand the mids/depth/width.

No...going from the 10.5 to the Fatboy is not a huge improvement....perhaps Fatboy was properly adjusted.   The Fatboy sound is just different...not better (but everyone has their taste).  To get the 10.5 arm closer to the sound of the Fatboy, the...

I use the Fox 1 (same but uses batteries rather then plugged in).... Its made a very big difference for the better.....easy to use.....great results. Don’t forget the recommended LP for it.

When I got my VPI arm, they also sent me a metal guide that when placed on the spindle, the exact placement of the 3 attachment screws of the arm was accurate and obvious.  There is no hole to drill.
