To clean or not to clean...
My record cleaning machine hardly gets used at all....yes I can hear the difference, but for me its hardly worth it.

Thanks for the offer Tom, but as you know, a new endpin has to be hand turned for the precise fit, also the attachment gut has to be installed, varying its length and girth, and then experimenting with soundest, bridge, etc.   To do it right would...

If you are unfamiliar with what real live music sounds like....go to live music concerts.   Once you understand what your goal is, you can determine what/how to get that sound into your home.

Poor Customer Service
Customer service is at least as important as performance.   I've always had great experiences with Ayre, Vandersteen, VPI. 
Super tweeter for FullRange Driver
My Vandersteen speakers have an additional rear firing tweeter that is adjustable/off.   Using the tweeter, it sounds bigger, but the pinpoint imaging is gone. Off for me is preferred. 
Referent point
To these ears what horns do better than most is their ability to get closer to the dynamics of live music. 
My Experience With Tekton
I've been sitting on the stage for many years, and can tell you that's the worst seat in the house.  I've had the piccolo/flute in my ears for too many of them.
