Woodstock 1969, or 1967?
@bdp24 We get that you hold The Band above all others and that you have a low opinion not only of 60’s psychedelic Rock but of (as you recently opined) 70’s Rock as well. The thing is, many of us enjoy The Band, AND 60’s psychedelic Rock AND 70...
Jazz for aficionados
@alexatpos I listened to those selections. They are certainly emotionally intense, but as I don’t speak the language, I’ve no clue regarding what they’re singing about, so I could be missing what it is that you find difficult to tolerate. And j...
Jazz for aficionados
@frogman I was watching a "reaction video" yesterday by a guy who looked to be in his early thirties. He was reacting to a video from the Fillmore of the Allmans (original line-up) playing "Whipping Post". Not Jazz, but what did he say, among ot...

@bdp24 Hah! Yes you would! I’m a fan of The Band, too, but one not need be to enjoy a fine photograph. In fact, I own a book of Landy’s photographs from that era: "Woodstock Vision". Mine's an older version. It's since been updated, expanded:...
Confession: I only like Norah Jones because so many others told me to
Recognizing an artist possesses skill, creativity, etc.is one thing. Liking them is another. Liking an artist because one is told to is not a scenario I relate to. I'm too stubbornly independent where esthetics are concerned.
Favorite Cover Album
Should've mentioned: they've recorded several CDs available on their website.

@slaw  It's a pleasure to discuss music with you!
Favorite Cover Album
Leonid and Friends do mostly Chicago covers, led by the bass player, who transcribes all the parts note for note and anchored by a very solid drummer. The level of musicianship is consistently outstanding for everyone involved. I’ll admit it -- I...

@slaw  I did do a bit more listening. I find his music pleasant enough but ultimately it doesn't grab me in a way that would make me want to buy any of his CDs. Purely subjective. I've recommended certain music I like to other people and they've...

@bassbuyer  Your favorite is "the stuff of nightmares"??? I don't have a favorite but have always liked the Blue Note label album covers featuring the photography and graphic designs of Reid Miles.  A few others... "American Beauty"  "Are You...
Audiophiles and De-cluttering -- your journey toward both psychic and sonic improvement
@hilde45  So much for my attempt at humor... The only approaches I know for decluttering the mind have nothing whatsoever to do with shiny, electrically-powered, metal boxes. Well, OK -- biofeedback is an exception. Otherwise, no.  I was merely...
Favorite Cover Album
Willie Nelson's album of Kris Kristofferson tunes (don't recall the name). I like some of the tunes on Deadicated but to my ears, it's wildly inconsistent (like the Dead). My favorite track is Dwight Yoakam's killer cover of "Truckin"". The first...
Jazz for aficionados
I used to be a baker. Mornings when it was my turn to mix, I’d have a couple hours to enjoy working alone, before the other guys showed up. One such morning, I was playing Jack DeJohnette’s "Tin Can Alley" when my boss and his girlfriend (not Jazz...
Audiophiles and De-cluttering -- your journey toward both psychic and sonic improvement
@hilde45 When it comes to mind decluttering units, do you favor SS or tube and how can one be sure when one’s mind is decluttered... l mean, what are the proper measurements? ;o)
WHY DO SOME AUDIOPHILES TRY TO TELL OTHERS WHAT THEY CAN OR CAN’T HEAR IN A SYSTEM?
@thecarpathian  Sorry if I misunderstood. I guess I tend to believe "basic" encompasses more than having ears and auditory nerves. But was that, in fact, all you meant?
