Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts Finally got everything setup. I’m driving the Harbeth’s with a pair of Pass Labs 60.5’s and using a Pass Labs XP-20. Well, it sounds epic. I’m a huge Lamb of God fan, just as much as I enjoy Bela Fleck and the Flecktones. I’ll put the flag in ...
Harbeth Super HL5 Plus speakers & integrated amp pairing recommendations @curio How do you like it?
Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts All, thank you very much for your inputs. I enjoyed reading them and added color to what I’ve already read. They’re arriving tomorrow, but I likely won’t get everything setup until mid-week. Very much looking forward to it.
Harbeth Super HL5+...thoughts @ericsch Thanks for sharing. Though, I do listen to a fair amount of heavy metal (Anthrax, Metallica, Lamb of God), I would think the Harbeth’s would highlight the overuse of compression and all other forms of trickery used in that genre.

Is DEQX a game changer? @mlee I will concur regarding your sentiment with the time dedicated to interfacing with a DEQX product, but this is a very small price to pay, given the end result. I do not work for them, so I’ll do my best to avoid coming off as “salesee,” per...
Dynaudio C4 old stock discounted @steve59 I can’t speak on the Ushers, but the first room I had my C4’s in was approximately 11 x 13 and that room was way too small. The room they’re in now is approximately 20 x 30 and they sound exponentially better.
Dynaudio C4 old stock discounted Aside from my warranty comment, I’ll second dewette’s comment regarding needing a big high-current amp. I ran my C4’s with a McIntosh MC452, wasn’t enough juice for them. Swapped it out for a set of monoblocks. Now, well, my 20 year old speaker...
Dynaudio C4 old stock discounted Dynaudio’s “Guidelines for Warranty” states the warranty begins at time of purchase and lasts for two years. So, in the event there’s an issue, you would be covered under warranty, provided the speakers are being purchased from an authorized dealer.
Need advice for a beginner. @spatialking Pure Direct, I believe that’s what you’re referencing. Unfortunately, your Marantz doesn’t have home theater pass-thru; which that would allow you to purchase a dedicated 2-channel preamp, have it in line with your Marantz, and allow...
Stereo pre-amps with dual outs for bi-amping and a subwoofer line out I have not seen a standard preamp that offers this capability, other than DEQX products; which aren’t “standard,” per se. Peruse thru their install/config manual, the numerous bi/tri amp setup configs are in there. They also support dual sub outs...
Humble Request For AC Cable Recommendations Not to take anything away from cables that are listed on Agon, The Cable Co also has “The Used Cable Co,” which they rent out cables for folks to test out. Between there and Agon, you should be able to source what you’re looking for. I should als...
Humble Request For AC Cable Recommendations I realize you’re going to get numerous responses, I’ll share mine. I wanted to relocate my monoblocks, and needed longer power cables. I had been running Shunyata Black Mamba power cables, I believe I paid around $1400 a piece for them, it was 4...
What are the weak points of Pass amps and pre-amps ? I own the XP-20, best preamp I’ve owned. I don’t have an extensive list of A/B’s to other preamps, so I wouldn’t be able to comment on what it lacks. It sounds better than the handful of McIntosh preamps I’ve owned and PS Audio BHK pre that I de... |
