DecWare 300B amp

Hey folks!

Any fine folk received this “new one” yet?

Better still…can you give it a thumbs up?

I ordered the 25 th Anniversary model. Two year wait. Hoping I’m still above ground to listen on my Cornwall fours.

Hello, Chosenplay.  My speakers have 105 dB sensitivity.  I normally listen at around 80 or below.  That means that I rarely need more than one watt!  Since I have a powered sub, the power of the 300B should be sufficient for my front L and R speakers.  Thanks for raising the point.

@oddiofyl

I think any good amp sounds best with a great preamp.   My amp has gain for each channel but I think it sounds poor without a preamp.   It's not horrible but it is dramatically better with a really good pre.

The DAC with volume guys are missing out in my experience....

My observation as well. There are always exceptions to the rule. In most circumstances I believe a high quality preamplifier is an asset.

@oddiofyl No question that people are changing, my point is that most (not all) that are changing aren't going from a $1200 order to a $6000 order. I will try to get accurate numbers. Will report if I am wildly in error.

Treat yourself. Go to East Peoria and listen to a Sarah 300b (as well as the other amplifiers on hand to compare). Perhaps change that hope to reality. Then you can opine from a position of experience. Cheap airfare and hotel. Just do it. Like you said, crazy hobby.

Haven't heard either , but a number of people have already changed their order.....they have plenty of time to save .  So it's already happening .   I hope it's great, $6000 all in is a decent amount of money but this is a crazy hobby.

As @brockwired, I heard the Sarah 300b in October as well (perhaps we chatted), and I agree it is worth the wait. All the Decware amplifiers are quite good. The caveat being that you pair them with appropriately sensitive speakers.

Referencing sensitivity, @therandyman you mentioned you are on the list for a ZMA (40 watts/ch) and would consider "upgrading" to the 300b (7 watts/ch). Does that reduction in power work for your circumstance? The ZMA is wonderful in its own right, just different (of course) than the 300b.

@oddiofyl If by "brilliant move" you mean Decware can somehow mojo you from spending about $1200 on a SE84UFO to change your order to an amp that is at least $4200 without tubes? Doesn't make sense, curious what you are trying to say? Have you ever heard a SE84UFO or Sarah 300b to be able to make that suggestion? If you are not on the list, you can't say what you would do. Easy to spend other people's money. 😀

For reference. I do own (among direct digital, SS class ab, tube amplifiers) 2 Decware SE84UFO25 anniversary and Decware TORII Monos. And I am on the list for a Sarah 300b.

I got to hear their 300b amp last October.  It is worth the wait. I also like their SE34i.6 too.

You might want to also look into the Decware Zen TORII MK5, it allows for numerous tube choices and sounds great once broken in with at least 300 - 500 hours on it.

I waited a year for mine and I will be keeping it until I pass, then my son will get it.

I have a ZMA and I love it. I'm trying 7027 A's in it right no,  NOS General Electrics from the 60's.

Immediately after I got it from Decware I discovered it came alive when used  with a preamp. I bought a Backert Rhumba Extreme and its been pure bliss. The 300B from Decware is very tempting but I have a big room and I don't think 8 watts is enough for my O96's.

I have to say , brilliant move by Decware.   Let’s launch a 300b and hopefully UFO84 buyers will convert their order to the 300b while waiting in queue.

If I was on the list , I would do that.  It gives ample time to save for the amp you probably want to upgrade to ….

I'm on the Decware list for a basic ZMA, intending to upgrade if I do not cancel the order.  I may upgrade to the 300B based upon the comments to come from the new owners.  I encourage everyone to post their experiences.  Thanks!

I have a Decware ZMA that I have really dialed in.  I'm also having a custom amp built to replace it.  This one just looked like too much fun to pass up.  It'll probably be for sale in a few months.

Looks nice ....  Im having a pre built with those Khozmo encoder / relay volume controls.

Great looking amp

Tektron TK2A3/50S--can use 2A3, 300B, 45, and 50.  Seems centered around 2A3.  Really big sound from a few watts.

Have any been shipped yet? I’m on the list. In the mean time I’m fiddling with this one.
