great speaker buys on Craigslist

There were two great speaker buys on craigslist this morning in my area.
A pair of large brown speakers and a pair of big loud speakers.
Just what everybody needs.

Tpreaves, they're actually small loud ones, and sorry, I'll turn it down! On a side note, I'll trade you. Those Tyler's look purty nice ;-)
Ngjockey-thanks for the laugh to start the day! You across the pond? The spelling of neighbor makes me think so.
Fill us in man! How large are they? Can you tell me what shade of brown? And what is Craigs last name is so I can call him?
I E-Mailed the guy with the big loud ones and asked him just how loud were they. No reply.
About 20 years ago I went to a tag sale at which a pair of speakers were being offered. Although I don't remember the exact wording that was used to describe them in the listing, it was not all that different than in the description cited by the OP. Turned out they were a pair of large vintage Tannoys, ca. 1960, which are highly sought after. I bought them for $20. After enjoying them for a while I eventually sold them for $1500. I suspect they would be worth several times that amount today.

I also have a pair of even larger speakers in much coveted "Noir". Let me know if you're interested and I'll give you first dibs.
Old School Stereo = 24 yr old club kid selling a combo 8 track and record changer
Vintage Stereo = same as above
Hi-Fi = Elderly person selling a panasonic
Minty High End = 40 yr old in parent's basement
Stereo = your guess is good as mine
Moving Sale = nothing's packed up when you show up
Ok I called Mr. List and asked him about the large browns ones and he said those were already gone, but he did have the large loud ones and they were the same as the large brown ones. So I asked the logical question. And he said that the the ones he has wired to his receiver are a lot louder than the ones he didn't have hooked up. So I asked the next logical question. And he said the buyer didn't ask if they make any sound. So anyway I bought the large brown loud ones. If any of you can't hear'em let me know I will turn'em up.
No joke, I'm scanning craigs L tonight, listing says: "2 speakers, 4 foot tall, make offer". Question is, do you all think these would be a big improvement over my 24" tall speakers and if so, how much should I offer him? Thanks!

Mr List sells some seriously good stuff because it is big, he told me so. He said you see every extra inch longer your box is it allows the sound of more instruments to come out of it. Pretty soon you have one big enough a whole orchestra can come out of it. There is only room for so many instruments in a small box. So B-Limo accordingly to Mr. List the four foot over your 24" is probably exponentially better. Nd4speed would you be willing to take in trade my five little remote controlled pink ones. They glow green at night and they don't smell real bad, trust me.

B, at 48" tall they will be twice as good as your 24"ers !!!!
Marq, no brown, no dice. ;)

I suppose if Apple were marketing this stuff the tagline would be: "And now...even bigger!"

Seriously, when are we gonna start seeing speakers sold by the pound? I think these guys are on to something.
CL is a hoot. It can be very entertaining taking a look now and then as the above examples show.

Here are just two of my favorites:
(insert well known brand name here) RPTV for sale - $400. Paid over $3000 when new. Works great!
I wish I could reply to this type of ad - "I would be happy remove the 300 lb beast from your premises for only $40.

But my absolute favorite was someone looking to sell his $500 Best Buy gift card for....you guessed it, $500! At least it also said, "can meet you at store to verify amount".

And they're serious.

Ok, I was thinking. I don't do that very much because I am a music lover and I listen to music 23.5 hours a day. Any I will hurry because I got to get back to listening. Sorry to hijack such and important thread as this but I think I have come up with the best topic to chime in on. This- 'I need some help!!. I am not sure how my system sounds. Can you help me? Please!! Please!! Please!!.' I haven't seen a thread like this unless I have missed something. Anyway I am checking with everyone here before I post it, because almost everyone seems so smart. Will it get a lot and I mean a lot of replys? Now go ahead and tell me. Don't worry I can take it, I'm not a fresh cupcake.
Two more I saw this morning:
"speakers so awesome, come on by!
I've got a set of sharp, three way speakers, 300 watts, bookshelf size, $70. I've also got a pair of tower speakers. They are generic, but look nice. $20. I'm moving in a month, better hurry I'm in a wheelchair now!"

And then there is "A pair of floorstanding speakers with a subwolfer". I bet those really howl! Funny too, I've never seen that pair of bose floorstanding speakers. They are pretty tall and boxey for only having what looks like one 2.5 inch driver.
