The Scandanavian region is pretty well regarded for the quality of their raw speaker drivers (Seas, Scanspeak, Vifa, Dynaudio come to mind, but I’m sure there are others). I’d suggest you find some speakers that you love and that work well with your room, and that were designed and made in the region , then choose the upstream components to suit your needs. (I favor tubes, but that’s a different discussion!)
Moved countries, help me get a new stereo system
Not sure why my thread got deleted (maybe because I described my country in a disfavourable way, which I do believe so, but whatever). Here it goes again without that description.
Long story short: moved from South America to Denmark. Now I feel like a kid first entering a Lego store: lots of options, I'm completely lost.
Back there I had: KEF R300 + vincent sv237mk. I was satisfied with it, but I want to upgrade now. But read on about the Vincent
Budget? 4000-6000 euros.
Room: about 4x3 (moving to new apartment, haven taken proper measures, but it's ballpark)
Source preferences: digital 90%, vinyl 10% (will get a record player later on, so don't count it within that budget).
I'm inclined to look in the used / demo market since prices get crazy "low". So I've spotted some Dynaudio Special Forty, and I was considering a cocktail audio n25 as a streamer. Any other suggestions for speakers?
Not sure if those are the best choices, but I'm completely lost at amps. I was about to get a used Hegel H160 or H200, but then I've been reading lot of hate regarding the company concealing it's manufacturing in China (don't care) and the transformer making a hum which Hegel says it's "normal", so now I'm having 2nd thoughts. Other stuff I found:
- Primare i35 prisma (would skip the streamer), but this is class D and I'm just not sure
- Music Hall A70.2. Don't know much about the brand, but it looks like it's powerful, and it's cheaper than anything else
- Yamaha A-s1200 (new)
- Gold note IS1000: same, no idea about this one
- Krell KAV-300iL
- Lots of NAD, e.g.: M12, etc.
- Atoll in200
Any thoughts?
