It sounds like there will be some good deals to be had on the older models. I attended the Next Level Hifi event they had earlier this year. I swear at that show which was the first place you could hear or see them we were told $5500 with stands. Now it looks like they are $7500 with stands. I think Jays Audio who was filming it even says it on camera. I think we should hold onto our money till next Axpona and see what happens. I’ve heard certain manufacturers say they raise prices because they could. Some even call it the Corona Tax. Watch the used stuff on AGon and other sites right now. People are dumping gear like crazy. It will really ramp up in a three to six months. If you see something used you like at a good price then buy it. They are going fast. Otherwise you will have to wait. Same thing for your house. If you are thinking about transferring to another state or downsizing then sell your house now while the prices are high, move into a rental for a year, then buy what you want at a lower interest rate than now. Bottom line is be careful and plan ahead. I did just miss out on two killer deals because I waited a couple days. People are selling off their second or third systems. Great deals to be had.
If what I'm reading is correct there is a new series at Germany for approx the same price point as the X series (the X1 was just released at Axpona) .The new C3 just released in Germany I believe is targeted as the replacement of the X6 for a tad more money ..Who the hell knows I can't keep up with it.,it changes so quickly......that's my point! |
@missioncoonery Borreson has just come out with the T5 speakers with Titanium cone material. It's just below its M series that has Zirconium cones. $225k a pair...Interesting design, rear ports and style. |
@deep_333 You are biased if you own the X6. I am not saying it is a bad speaker but you have to understand Missioncoonery came from a Raidho that was way more money than your toy and has a more experienced perspective that may have some weight in his opinion. |

@tlittlefield I just received my new X1’s about 2 months ago and I love them in my office!!
Happy to hear that the X3’s are even more amazing!!

Oh, ok.... In that case, we could put the M3 and the X6 on the same high end Aavik electronics+tweaks (that they only use with the M3) in the same room side by side and we can determine what a world of difference you heard between the two or not (at normal listening levels, as you sat blindfolded), what do you think? We could do something even better too. We could add a pair of high quality subs to the M3 and X6 and do a comparison as well. Do you even have a Borresen speaker? Doesn’t sound much like it at all....Ok, ok.

I know several who own them and I helped upgrade their only weakness like most speakers under $30 k they use the lower grad3 Ajantzen capacitors , for another $600 they should have used the Jantzen Alumina Z foil capacitor much better after changing just 2 capacitor a big difference lone guy used the VH Audio Odam capacitors and path audio resistors it make a very good speaker at least 15% better still. Just go to humble home made hifi capacitor test ,. |
@missioncoonery +10! |
You’d rather buy the rinse/rehash/repeat trash going on strong for 30 years ("high end") from the laziest designers on earth? Or are you a dealer for some competitor’s brand?
I know who that boob is, who said such a thing (hope he isn’t your guiding light). I have the Borresen X6 and i have heard the Cseries bookshelf speaker. I have also heard the M series. Nope, no sign of upgraditis here. Further, many a times, the higher series are paired with much better electronics and tweaks. Many a times, it is the electronics that carried it and made you think it was a never ending miracle of the speaker, as you went up the series. Put the 2 series on the same electronics+tweaks in the same room side by side and we’ll talk further, ok? |
Im not saying Borresen isnt a good speaker and im not tryin to rain on your parade.I just saw a video where the importer was saying if you have the X series dont even listen to the new C line..its that much better,Insinuating you will want to move up the line or in this case spend a tad more and get way better speakers.. In 12 months my friend this is what they are saying about the X series..thats all im saying.You watch an onslaught of X2 and X3 speakers coming to market soon and half retail or less as the last real listing for X3 speakers was 6500 i think and they were on for months... |
The problem with Borresen is exactly what Raidho did when he was with that company..They upgrade or come with with new lines way way too often leaving those who bought their speakers 12 months ago or 24 months ago holding the obsolete bag..In 2022 the X3 was released,Axpona this year saw the new C series I think it is and now I hear another line is at Germany 2024..and we all know what happens when your speaker is upgraded or a new series is released..dump dump dump the value of what you have...Could be a great speaker but the resale value isnt there down the road.Great I guess if you like to buy on the cheap |
