Pass Labs INT-25 or equivalent in another brand

Luxman 590 would be A, 509 and 507 class A/B

I wonder if anyone has a list of A/B amps that stay in Class A for long enough to really erase the difference btw A and A/B?

I think some of the Accuphase integrateds are class A up to a wattage that would drive those Heresy IVs pretty loudly.  Prices in the States are a bit steep, though.

I believe CODA makes an integrated that runs into class A for a higher output.

The Luxman L-509x stays in Class A for the first 6 watts (8 ohm load) before going A/B to its rated output.  The L-507 probably the same.

Is 5300.00 a good price for a used INT-25?

I would check in with Mark at Reno Hi-Fi and see if you can get a demo unit.

He doesn’t have any at the moment. A new one for 7000.00. 

I have the Luxman 590axII which is 30 watts pure class A, 45 into 4 ohms. Some reviews state after that it’s class B to 90. Great sounding. 

Just purchase a new INT-25 from Mark @Reno. 

Congradulations! I owned Pass designed amps and preamps for well over thirty years… he disowns and manufactures great equipment. It is incredibly reliable and is likely to perform flawlessly as long as you wish to keep it.

I have an INT-25 and the two best features are the sound (I have a funny feeling you've read all the reviews - imo they are correct) and the fact that it's made in the USA.  If you are ok with the simplicity of design it's wonderful.  The biggest "problem" I have with it is that it does take a good while to warm up to sound it's best; maybe an hour or so.  

@travisg Congrats! Let us know how it sounds.
@steveashe is right on with the note on warm up. It should sound great right out of the gate but give it 24hrs after the first day then about an hour thereafter to warm up. Pass amps are awesome and their customer service is top notch.

I was told to leave it on for 5 days before I listen.

I wouldn’t worry about that too much. You can listen to it and hear it improve. It will be great from the moment you plug it in though…I’m pretty certain of that.

Good advice. But I have a real hard time not drawing conclusions from listening to a new piece of equipment… and can be disappointed… I know I shouldn’t draw conclusions… but I do. So, it can be safer to wait… but you have to put a signal through it while breaking in.

More than once I have been so anxious to hear my new piece of equipment and thought, “it sounds OK”… not what I was hopping for… depressing. Then after 150 hours, hearing it greatly improve… and really being upset with myself… I know better than this… once again forgetting how important breakin is.

I hate the break in but curiosity takes over and I just got to know what it sounds like before it settles. In case of Pass I do believe it will be fine. but I’ll defer the decision to the new lucky owner of the Int25!
