Posting the wrong MSRP: why?

People do it with everything they sell, so why not audio gear?

I've noticed myself that there is a wide range of retail prices for items, depending on where you look.

Amazon is famous for having notoriously high pricing for the same item you can buy for less elsewhere, but what they are really selling is the convenience and the ability to one stop shop.

Those posters are doing you a favor by signaling their true colors.

Buyer beware. Maybe just move on.

It’s the oldest retail sales trick in the book! Inflate the supposed price but then give a special discount. There are many variations of this but effectively the same: today only, by the end of the month, by two get one free, MSRP is X but we’ll it for only .8X etc. “ Value” is all relative to your taste but in the end, just have to decide if what you’re actually getting is worth it to you. 

Many times if a used piece of gear is more than a couple years old, the retail price listed is what it sold for THEN....todays' retail would be different.
