To complete a system

I have come into a McIntosh 5300amp and Klipsch la scala speakers. What else do I need to experience hi fidelity sound for music from streaming service or a record player?

Fully Integrated Amp, includes upgradable DAC, Includes Phono input for MM Moving Magnet Cartridge.

Turntable for LP’s:

See Below: Darn Good Starter TT

Direct Drive perfect speed; built-in optional Phono Preamp (use any line level input); removable headshell is important. See other features

I had one for years.

Discontinued, but B&H has a few:

Helps you determine IF you like/will stick with playing LP’s

IF so, 1st upgrade: get 2nd headshell with better MM Moving Magnet cartridge,

Next: the amount of use will determine if you want to move ’up’ to MC Moving Coil cartridge (another headshell) (separate phono stage or SUT Step Up Transformer will be needed to use MC type)

3rd: perhaps also move ’up’ to better TT. Stick with models with removable headshell, so the 2 or 3 cartridges you bought can be used on the new TT.

Streaming: (I don't stream, I would start with the basics and see if it's for you)

McIntosh 5300 has a built in DAC, so you can start off simple, like using a laptop or PC USB out to the 5300's DAC, and free streaming via free Pandora; free streaming from YouTube,

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Next: paid subscriptions of those or other music providers that have higher quality digital versions to download, without ads.

Next: a separate streamer, which needs software to organize/find/play what you want.

Next: cables/cables/cables...

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

If pc has built-in DVD/CD or laptop: use external DVD/CD player: DVD movies//DVD full music concerts. (use USB 3.0, it's 10 x faster than USB 2.0)

Great foundation for a nice system.   I agree with getting a good streamer /DAC.   Either a nice all in one or separates depending on budget

A high quality streamer. Unless you have a record collection already, or plan to build one, I'd skip the TT and put all the money into a really high quality streamer for now.

A streamer with a lossless service or a TT with arm, cart & LPs should do it.

In short a big billfold.
