Using my TV as a node, buy a streamer?

Probably. Only you will know if it sounds better to you.

At least you won't be tethered like a dog.

First, Keep volume control on tv where it is and let superior controls on your Moon Audio unit handle this, as well as the DA conversion.  To that point, it is Very unlikely that the DAC on a Node will be even as good as your Moon Audio's.

To optimize audio out from  video streams to TV, suggest HDMI to Moon DAC/amp if connector is available, otherwise TOSLink out instead (opto-isolated and supports 24/192).

For streaming/serving audio, You'll very likely notice a big improvement with a dedicated server/streamer, over current setup.  I think the Node allows you to bypass its own DAC and send digital stream directly to your Moon DAC.  Might be a good option if used this way.

to date we have tested all the major players including: Aurender, Innous, sotm baetis, bluesound, Auralic, and 432EVO

each product sounded different and had its own set of advantages and disadvantages.

long story short the Innous sounded the best, however the lack of upgradability was a pain as we were always taking in clients units when they wanted to move to an even better sounding model.

then we discovered the 432EVO line of servers from Belgium they sounded even smoother and were more analog like plus they were fully upgradable from model to model,

I did this and was shocked how bad the results were. The rendering in my reasonably modern Samsung TV swapped L/R channels. It also resampled the audio to 48khz and 16 bit  no matter the true file specs. This may been uncommon but I will never use that setup again.
