Virginia Audiophiles - I Need Guidance

I will transferring to the Fredericksburg area in the next couple of weeks. I have only been to the area once previously and it was more for job interviews and house hunting than for Hi-Fi searching.

Can any A-goners reccomend a good 2-channel (not into HT at all) store in the area? I especially like dealers who accept trade-ins and consequently have a decent selection of used gear on hand.

Similarly, I'd be interested in chatting with any other 2-channel afficianados in the area. Thanks for the read and I appreciate your responses! Daddy-O.

I live in Fredericksburg also and work in DC via train. I bought a used preamp from Deja Vu for a smokin deal but they seem to be very SET and Horn oriented from what I saw in the store. The place is hard to find if you are not from the area. They were cool about guiding me in.

If you don't mind the drive you can go to UpTown Audio in Roanoke, VA. They have used gear and do some trading from time to time. Ask for Bill.

If you ever want to chat about audiophile stuff and the area give me a call. Sherman Webers xxxxxxxxxxxxx or at the office xxxxxxxxxx (DC). I do a lot of trading also.
Also in Richmond is Tim Stinson, the owner of Luminous Audio cables. In addition to his excellent cables he has a by appt. showroom. Contact at luminous@cavtel.net (804-741-5826). His cable website is http://www.luminousaudio.com.

Good luck in the Fredericksburg area. I made deliveries up there for about a year & the traffic can be a real problem, esp. off of Rt.3. If you like ice cream, be sure to check out Carl's. Here's some info on "stuff". http://fredericksburg.com/community/tourism/places/InTown

A good dealer in Richmond VA is Tim Harrison / Audio Art. Tim has been in business over 25 years, is very knowledgable of the high end, and works by appointment only. He has an excellent listening room and will set up exactly what you want to listen to. Highly recommended.

Within about an hour to an hour and a half drive ther are two very good stores. Deja-Vu Audio in Mclean and Gifted Listener Audio in Centreville. Deja-Vu specializes in tubes and analog, Too many brands to list, and Gifted Listener is a Levinson, Linn, and Thiel dealer among others. Both provide excellent service and are super friendly. Good luck and happy listening.
