What is your favorite 1 hit wonder from the 70's?

Many on Audiogon agree the 1970's was the best decade for popular music. Whether it was the quality of songwriting or the diversity of music. The decade also produced many unforgettable 1 hit wonders. My personal favorite is Afternoon Delight by Starland Vocal Band, what's yours?

Innovative disco, before the "disco sucks".
Plus, the lyrics speak more today than they di back then.
"Feelings" - Morris Alpert, a Brazilian. The words are banal but there is a certain melancoly yearning in the song I couldn't put my finger on when I first heard it. Then there was that slight accent of Alpert, didn't know at the time he was Brazilian. Certainly not everyone's cup of tea (why do I feel that is an understatement?) but probably the most performed song by different artists of any pop song of the 70's and that has to count for something although I'm not exactly sure what other than mointo carros for Mr. Alpert.
A yes, the 70's. A time of bad hair, bad fashion, and at least SOME really bad music. I know, I was there...

I'll leave it you to determine how good or bad these were, but they were the first to pop to mind:
"Brandy (You're a Fine Girl)" by Looking Glass
"Smokin' in the Boy's Room" by Brownsville Station
"Convoy" by CW McCall (OK, we have a good sense of where that one lands on the quality scale.)

Oh, and by the way, Mott the Hoople had several other reasonably popular albums and singles, not the least of which was "All the Way From Memphis."

Like I said, I was there.
Three ;)
-Du (Peter Maffay)
-I Just Want To Be Your Everything (Andy Gibb)
-Emotion (Samantha Sang)
"Funky Nassau" by The Begining of the End has not been mentioned. Peaked at #15 on the Billboard Hot 100 July 1971.
Bugles-Video killed the radio star.A true one hit wonder.
I agree also that quite a few artists' being mentioned were not really one hit one'ders.
The Knack are not a 1 hit wonder. Good Girls Don't hit #11 and Baby Talks Dirty was a top 40 hit. In 1991 Rocket O' Love was a minor hit with some radio play. BTW it's a great song with a killer(woman)video. Starbuck-Moonlight Feels Right has not been mentioned a yacht-rock classic. Great posts-Beach Baby, How Long, Smoke From a Distant Fire and Hocus Pocus true 1 hit wonders.
On a side note God bless Glen Campbell in his battle with Alzheimers that he went public with today. Rinestone cowboy was an iconic pop 70s hit.
Audiofeil, I do remember that one. Mine frome the same year was:

"Antlers In The Treetops" by Whoogoos the Moose.
"My Sharona" by The Knack ..... a pretty cool song by a band that just disappeared.
"Fool if you think it's over" is the song I was trying to remember. Thanks.
I stand corrected on the "Mickey" choice. I actually thought it was "Hey Nikki". Shows how much I know.
The night the lights went out in Georgia by Mamas familys Vicki Lawerence lol
For an interesting discussion of what constitutes a one hit wonder, see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/One_hit_wonder and scroll down to 'Questions of definition'

Anyway, a thread after my own heart, my pre-teen and teen years were during the 70s and I LOVE 70s music. Some (most?) great 70s one-hit-wonders are already mentioned.

I'll add:
Mississippi Queen-Mountain
Focus-Hocus Pocus
Turn the Beat Around-Vicki Robinson

BTW Mickey and 867-5309 are 80s songs. I love 80s as well.
Personally, I think most of the music in the 70's sucked, maybe that's why there were so many one hit wonders??
How can one list just one one hit wonder from the supposedly best musical decade?
I will stop short of adding;

Grandad- Clive Dunn
Ernie the fastest Milkman in the west- Benny Hill
Funky Moped- Jasper Carrot
Funky Gibbon- The Goodies.
Float on- the Floaters (you must check it out on youtube).

45's I have bought and loved when I was a scrawny nipper.

Radar Love by Golden Earring.
Spirit in the Sky-Norman Greenbaum.
Indian Reservation- Don Fardon .
Gimme dat ting- The Pipkins.
Resurrection Shuffle- Ashton,Gardener & Dyke.
Popcorn- Hot butter.
Liquidator- Harry J & the Allstars (1969, but close enough).
Suger Suger- The archies.
Band of Gold-Freda Pain.
Hot Butter-Popcorn.
Magic Fly-Space.
Pop Musik-M.
"Does anyone remember the hit Chris Rea had around this time?"

Fool if you think it's over
"Smoke from a Distant Fire" by The Sanford Townsend Band. Quintessential late 70s pop ballad.
Martykl,
I was going to suggest Kenny Rodgers @ The First Edition "Just Dropped In", then realized it was the 60's also.
72s Stuck in the middle with you was Stealers Wheels only big hit correct? Great scene in a movie too!
Yea, Spirit in the Sky is a great choice.
Over the years, one that would always just pop into my head out of nowhere was "Something in the Air" by Thunderclap Newman. Released in 1970.
