Recently watched a documentary on Brian Eno on Amazon streaming so I’ started going through my collection of Eno and others.

Last night was “Cluster and Eno” and “After the Heat” for starters… another dozen or so to go…

@noromance

It’s pretty good Brian. I had never heard it, nor streamed it, just took a chance. Familiar old Van. Not great, but pretty darn good. Worth having in the collection.

@bkeske Never heard of that Van 2016 album. He fell off my radar. Any good?

Johnny Mathis-Romeo And Juliet(CS 9909) Side 1

Bob Dylan-Real Live Side 2

War-Greatest Hits Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Bob James-Touchdown(25AP1184 Master Sound 76) Side A SQ Audiophile

Doobie Brothers-Cycles Side 1

Luther Vandross-Busy Body Side B SQ Audiophile

Chopin-Chopin By Starlight(SP 8371) Side 1

Eurythmics-Sweet Dreams(are made of this) Side B SQ*

Another diverse vinyl night. Played 2 of my M- Goodwill finds... Chopin was decent but Mathis just OK. Cycles what a great "comeback" album. Many 70's "Classic Rock" artists had strong albums that year(89). SQ* Sweet Dreams might have Audiophile SQ but would need another spin. Very tough 3 way SQ tonight but Touchdown edges out Vandross/War.

Bad Company / S-T
1973 Island

Great Paul Rodgers interview in SiriusXM’s Classic Vinyl studio today. Interesting stories and he played a few acoustic versions of BCo. songs and off his new album.

Bad Company / Desolation Angels
1979 Swan Song

Nice finish on Side 1 with “Early In The Morning”…

War / Greatest Hits
1976 United Artists

Good idea @dayglow or I’d be playing Bad Company all night….not a bad thing. Agree on the SQ here, outstanding. My copy’s a cut-out.

@bslon   Thx. War is difficult to categorize, a little Santana/Tower of Power and some of the song writing ability of Stevie Wonder.  FWIW Acoustic Sounds will be reissuing the first 5 Bad Company recordings on 45 rpm vinyl.

Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs "Dirt Don't Hurt"

2008/Transdreamer Records

Always thought War "Greatest Hits" was demo worthy recording. Platinum is never mentioned and under the radar good!!!

@dayglow Hard to categorize War but fun music and high end sonics. Analogue Productions latest project is  "75 for 75" a new series of 75 vinyl releases from Atlantic Records' storied catalog to celebrate the label's 75th Anniversary. The initial list includes Bad Company, Yes, others. It should be interesting!

Traffic / The Low Spark Of High Heeled Boys
1971 Island

Cool album cover, great music and SQ too

Beethoven Symphonies, William Steinberg and the Pittsburgh Symphony on Command. I was unaware of this set, and Googling it has been considered an early stereo audiophile recording because Command used 35 mm tape.  Despite that I found it sonically disappointing, harsh,  prone to overload at the climaxes.  The Hall seems to have a lot of resonance and the veteran Steinberg doesn’t seem to allow for it, with a muddy sound produced by not letting echoes decay.  It makes me wonder if the set was recorded in a different venue from where the Orchestra routinely played.  I found the Brahms Symphony cycle from the same forces, reissued on DG on CD, to be much better sonically and interpretively.

@bslon

War has some just downright fun songs.I saw them years ago and the only active member was Leroy Jordon , the singer and writer of most of their songs.

It was a good evening.

Jack Jones-Our Story Side 2

Sammy Hagar-Live 1980 Side 1

George Muribus-Trio 77 Side A SQ Audiophile

The Who-Meaty Beaty And Bouncy Side 1

Teena Marie-Starchild Side 1 SQ Audiophile

K.D. Lange And The Reclines-Absolute Torch And Twang Side 2 SQ Audiophile

Yes-The Yes Album Side 2 SQ *

Three Dog Night-Around The World Side C+D SQ*

Not sure if I have an OP of Yes? TDN Floyd Sneed’s drum solo had Audiophile SQ but the album fluctuates in SQ. K.D. Lange takes the SQ crown.

for the first time in a long time i actually sat in my living room w/o any distractions and listened to some randoms discs, specifically:

jesus and mary chain, darklands--not sure if i like this poppier iteration more than the skronky debut, but it is unique

joe jackson, night and day--this sorta sophisto-pop isn’t my cup of java, and i still think he’s a lousy singer, but he is a very good musician and this is a very well-engineered set

green on red, gravity talks--best of the bunch
