Are there any Blue Oyster Cult fans out there? I Just listened to Secret Treaties, again. It’s my favorite, a classic Cult! Not the best recording on CD, I do remember it being better on LP. "Career of evil", any albumn with these lyrics:
"...I’d like your blue eyed horseshoe, I’d like your emerald horny toad. I’d like to do it to your daughter on a dirt road..." has to be great. Right? Don't forget " Dominance and Submission". Great song great guitar work and vocal effects.
Onto- Agents of fotrune, "Don’t fear ths reaper" and others Mirrors, is great too. "Vigil" and "I am the storm" and others.
I could be here all day.

radfrad,
Mine was Firethorn red! Thanks for sharing your story.
Faster61woman,
Anything goes on this thread. I have the Zebra you referenced. Good stuff. Please log on more often. I'm interested in more of your catalogue.
Today: Firehouse, S/T- CD, recorded well. Tesla, Mechanical Resonance -CD. Great White, Once Bitten-CD, one song "Rock me". Def Leopard, On through the night- CD, one song "Rock Brigade". Not a very good recording, but a great song.
I attended a Tesla/Great White concert when they were at their peak and still filling large arenas.
Later on: Black Sabbath S/T. One of their best and one creepy albumn cover. Whitesnake, S/T
What are you listening to today?
N |
This seems to be a mostly eighties thread... so..I'm surprised no one has mention Zebra "S/T".
This fits in perfectly and has all of the makings of a great eighties' lp and has some prog references.
I've heard the Triumph, the Scorpions, etc.. This is something different and kind of fresh.

Steve Perry, Street Talk. Not a bad first solo effort. Believe it or not, I actually owned a copy of this on pre-recorded Cassette tape! Sounded great in my 77 Olds, Cutlass Supreme. 350 Rocket engine with a 4 barrell carb. Kenwood 3-way 6x9's. Pioneer super tuner tape deck and 200 watt Kenwood 7 band amplifier/equalizer!

"Unchained" from Meanstreak is another crank it tune! Now playing Moving Pictures, Rush via LP sounding superb! |
gshephardbuster,
Thanks for the assist. Glad it's not just me, my hearing or my system. All of the Van Halen recordings, IMHO, could have been begter. I do like "Mean Street" from Fair Warning. It's a great song to play at high altitude.
I listened to Aranda, Stop the World. (2012) I really like their energy. "Hey Sally" and "Satisfied " are great but the whole CD is pretth good. Recorded well.
radfrad,
Nice session. I'm working on my pool so I just listened to Jimmy Buffet! Later i think I'll revisit some of your selections.

Yup, Balance and 5150 are a touch too much via cd. 5150 is better via lp, not sure about balance. |

Van Halen, Balance on CD. Great Van/Hagar effort but the recording sounds a bit bright on my system. Anyone else experience this on this recording?

Today. it's the Cocteau Twins queued up in Roon...
Heaven or Las Vegas (1990) Treasure (1984) Head Over Heels (1983)
This is a discovery project. For the last year Roon and Tidal have been reporting that the Cocteau Twins are similar to artists I've listened to.
So far, I've heard similarities: The Sundays, Dead Can Dance, The Cure, Kate Bush, Everything But The Girl. I like what I'm hearing...
...so I'll keep listening until I veer off in another direction.
I just renewed my Roon subscription for another year. Roon and Tidal are either the best thing that's ever happened to my music listening or negatively impacting my already too short attention span. |
Ronnie James Dio, Lock up the wolves.

radfrad,
I'm glad you are into Black Country Communion. It's a solid line-up. If you like Glenn Hughes, listen to his solo albumn "The way it is".
The RUSH A B C 1974 is very good. But I only listened to a download on Headphones. I should invest. RUSH was great each time I saw them. IMHO they were better when they/I was younger. The vocals were stronger when Geddy was younger. Then Geddy began playing the bass and keyboards simultaneously on the newer music. The stage productions were enhanced also. Drum solo's were the best, of course.
Today- The Doobie Brothers, Toulouse Street. What better way to start the day. "Jesus is just alright by me". I also want to dig out the Guess Who you listed. Been a while since I've listened to that.
jafant,
I'm not familiar with Vivaldi. Perhaps its time to expand my horizons. I'll take some time to listen to a bit of your selection as well.
Thanks for posting !

Black Country Communion. Self titled. Lp Blues Travelers. Lp This is not a live version. But I have a Live CD I prefer the live version. Mostly same sings Rush ABC 1974. Lp
Nuttty. It clearly counts if you have seen Rush 4 times live. A clear case of "moral Superiority". I have never seen them. And as I was well aware of them in the late 70,s. Only really just been really listening to them the last 2 years, quite enjoyable. Rush ABC 1974. Is live and their early sounding It also has a great Bass presence. A must for any Rush Band fan
Now playing. Deep Purple. Made in Euorpe. Lp my favorite. Is the Hughes /Blackmore. Era
