"No Tears Left to Cry" - Miley Cyrus and Mark Ronson and "Call Out My Name" - Macy Kate and Sarah Baska those two the best to increase my mood after long hours of essay and assignment writing) When you working at the best online writing service as https://www.essay-company.com/assignment-writing you have plenty of work, but it`s still the best job ever I had. |
@bdp24 , Have you heard Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes' version? Homage to the Four Tops with an injection of Jersey Juice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hG6iNPyE4Ck No. that is not Adam Sandler on lead guitar. ;^) |
The Four Tops: "Just Walk Away Renee" (original by The Left Banke). Unusual for me to like equally two completely different interpretations of a song (in this case a great one), but, hey, it’s The Four Tops! The Band: "Long Black Veil" (original by Lefty Frizzell). What other Rock ’n’ Roll band could possibly do this song?! The Band: "I Shall Be Released" (original sung by Bob Dylan and played by The Hawks in The Basement Tapes). The Band’s version benefits greatly from pianist Richard Manuel’s falsetto vocal, which Eric Clapton has described as heartbreaking. It truly is. The Yardbirds: "Train Kept A-Rollin’’’ (original by Tiny Bradshaw in 1951, but The Yardbirds copped it from 50’s Rockabillies The Rock ’n’ Roll Trio, whom Jeff Beck idolized). Lucinda Williams: This Sweet Old World (Lucinda’s 2017 re-recording of her 1992 Sweet Old World album). Muchas betta, imo. |
He Called Me Baby, all due respect to Patsy Cline; but I think Candy Staton owns that one now, especially since One eskim0 paid her tribute in their Kandi: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p_tBHoRaxns |

bdgregory, " Thunder Road (Springsteen) by Cowboy Junkies Darkness, Darkness (Youngbloods) by Cowboy Junkies" Thanks for these! I consider myself a huge CJ fan; but that album totally eluded me. Their new one, All That Reckoning, is fantastic BTW. I like to collect covers of my favorite songs. A few are: Morning Dew - Long John Baldry, The National Hey Joe - Vasti Jackson, Black Cat Bone Walk Away Rene - Southside Johnny & TAJ, Vonda Shepard Summertime - Big Brother & THC (of course), would you believe Perry Como? More later. |
I got Matthew Sweet & Susanna Hoff's Under the Covers Vol. 2 a few days ago. Pretty good. My favorite is "Go All The Way" (Eric Carmen/Raspberries), but Rundgren's "Hello It's Me" and Petty's "Here Comes My Girl" are also very good. An even better covers album is "Cinnamon Girls" wherein various female artists cover 21 Neil Young hits. Introduced me to Dala, who are beautiful! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BEsIKiHOTxE |
So glad I found this thread! I've already googled many of your favorites to my delight. "Killing The Blues" is one of my new favorites. Many covers; but I still like Plant & Krauss from Raising Sand. Great to see some love for Joan Osborne. She is a great talent. I'll throw out a few. "Summertime" Big Brother & The Holding Company The Zombies also do a fresh cover. Anything by Dusty Springfield - she pretty much owns anything she covered. "Hey Joe" -so many good versions. Hendrix, of course, but Black Cat Bone may be the best. "Morning Dew" - I have 15 versions. Long John Baldry is my #1, the version from his self titled EMI LP. All of Linda Ronstadt's covers of Karla Bonoff and Gary White. Respectively my favorites are "Someone to Lay Down Beside Me" and "Long, Long Time". The Siklie's version of the Beatles "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" "Down by the River" covered by the Indigo Girls. More later. I can't help myself! |
Another for me is The Bangles cover of Simon and Garfunkel's 1966 "A Hazy Shade of Winter". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxrwImCJCqk |
