I have heard they are way better than the new D3, but i haven't compared them

Hi no problem but thanks for the update, much appreciated :). Your impression ties in with some others that have heard these, especially with soundstage and holographic qualities. I'll rty and get to hear some but who knows what they will be partnered with here in the UK. Ironically, they are hard to find here which is a bit of a faux pas for Monitor Audio!

After owning the Monitor Audio PL500 II's for a while, I finally spiked them yesterday. What a difference a spike makes! In my room, there is more air and it's easier to place instruments/singers in the sound stage. So, why did it take so long to install the spikes? My wife stripped one of the threads and spikes when I initially received them. It's funny, but I contacted Monitor Audio and they said spiking them would make minimum difference. I'm sure in some rooms/systems it doesn't make a difference, but in my room, spiking them was significant.
After owning so many speakers, I just can believe how much more I enjoy the PL500 II's compared to the others that I've owned.
ricred1,

I have seen your other posts regarding the PL500 II's, and can only imagine how they sound. I won't ask how your wife came to 'rethread' the spikes but very glad you got them sorted and enjoying great results! I will be looking to try the 300 II's later this year, the 500's are just a bit tall for our room but if I could - I would.. :)
I should have added that I had do order a new spike and thread. It took a little longer than I expected, but I'm glad Monitor Audio took care of me.
Anyone compared the PLII to new Focal Sopra or Utopia line?

I have heard both at different dealers with different room and equipment but the initial impressions are that PLII creates a deeper soundstage, but fails with faster transients and is a bit softer on top, not so immediate and dynamic.
