Buying Music Likes Its The Early 90's

Just got back from my annual pilgrimage to the Princeton Record Exchange with two bags full of CDs and SACDs. I cannot believe the prices for these in late 2019. It brought me back to the early 1990s when I built most of my classical and jazz collection by purchasing the LPs everyone was dumping in favor of CDs for a few dollars apiece. Now everyone is dumping their CDs and SACDs in favor of streaming/servers and its deja vu all over again. A few months ago I decided to upgrade to a new disc spinner (K-03Xs) with the idea it was time to expand my collection into new realms at bargain basement prices. Spent last night listening to a handful of amazing recordings that offer excellent SQ when played through a top flight disc spinner. For those interested in starting or expanding their music collection now is a great time to take the plunge. I didn't spend more than $10 a disc and most were between 4-7$ apiece. Just sayin......

Totally agree.
If you want real bargains try your local thrift shops.
Usually $1 a CD or even less.
Probably doubled my CD collection in the last year from thrift stores for pennies.

Have not seen a sacd in any yet but you never know....
I have spent the past twenty years buying CDs from my local GoodWill. A bargain at $3 or less!
I completely agree. While I browse the used record bins, I’m disgusted by the prices (particularly given the condition). Drop a used CD in a new jewel case (maybe after a quick polish) and it’s logos as new for (usually) not much more than $2.
Totally agree, and so does the owner of my favorite local used record/cd store.  Even he thinks it's foolish to collect records rather than cds based on relative price and availability of lps in really good condition.  $4-7 for used CD, $12 or more for same recording on lp, both used.  I am trying hard to not use amazon or similar to fuel the collecting bug, ins't searching through the bins and talking to the dudes in the record store half the fun?
My local record store has pretty reasonable prices for vinyl, although I have seen a pretty significant jump over the last 12-18 months.  Having said that, the same is true for their used CD selection, almost all are $4 or $5 each.  I still buy a lot more vinyl, but find a lot of good stuff on CD also.
