Suggestions for $2k budget

I would suggest a used pair of Maggie 1.7i and a subwoofer, these should be available within your budget. Whatever you do try to get some listening time in with various speakers (maybe difficult at this time) and spend time reading reviews. I listen to mostly rock and can say I am very happy with Maggies. I auditioned many speakers but once I heard the Maggie's I knew they were the ones. Good luck on your journey and happy listening.

ASAP go to Underwood HiFi www. They are blowing out Emerald Physics speakers at absurd prices

I love love love my KCIIs. So far they are concentrating on the higher models

Spend around $1200-1500 for a used Ref 3A de Capo i

Usaudiomart has an Emerald Physics EP 4.8 for $2500. Never heard them but this seems like a helluvadeal. Seems very good reviews all around. I was tempted to jump in them. 

Used Tekton Double Impact is a can't go wrong option as well IMO. 

If you like rock and want to go loud with less power and get very acceptable sound go for Klipsch Heresy III's. I like maggies but they do not go loud and require a lot of power. IMHO Tekton makes ....trying to be polite here....garbage.
