Kef LS50

Are these speakers really that good ?       are there any weaknesses of these speakers that one should consider before buying them ?

looking for a monitor speaker that has a low sensitivity and these have me thinking about them.

had a pair of Dali Zensors that I really like , but the tweeter went out in one of the speakers and looking for a replacement.

other ideas welcome....and looking for a monitor in the $500-1200 range

equipment used is

ayre cd player
innersound esl 300 amp
aric audio tube preamp.
2 svs subs
birdscantrow
“I dont listen to loud anymore......according to the app I use, listening is around 90-93 dB.”

Whoa, for me that qualifies as pretty loud. You would think the Dali’s could handle it though.

Cheers,

Scott
93 db is pretty loud. Technically anything above 80db sustained for adults and 75db for children at the listening location can lead to permanent hearing damage. So...

Most surveys I’ve seen the average listening level for the typical music listener is 60-70db range, measured at the listening location.

You might want to consider some high sensitivity speakers if you really are at the point where you need an average listening level in the 90db range. Something with a big waveguide/horn to boost the tweeter output so you aren’t blowing drivers as easily.
i dont know how accurate the app is....but that is what it says.

whether one thinks its loud or not is not the issue and I have had the Dali's for a while now and something happened that the tweeter just stopped working.

just looking for a replacement speaker.
These are really good speakers! The only weakness I can think of is that they require expensive and big amplification -- think > $2500, otherwise they can sound quite ho-hum. Paired with your SVS subs, I think you're pretty well covered.
the sound from the Dali and svs subs actually sounded clearer than the Magnepan 1.7's that I had.      heard a lot more of the music using these monitors.

how much bigger of a amp do I need ?      the Innersound should be more than enough.
