Saw The Cars/Derringer/Little River Band on what might have been the Cars first tour as headliner, ~’78-79 at The Spectrum in Philly, or as Billy Joel likes to call it, "The Rectum". It was promoted as a September "Back to School Special" concert for $3.50/ticket. Even inflation adjusted, that’s pretty cheap!

@bslon Bill, for me, I would probably rank their albums like this: 1 - The Cars 2 - Heartbeat City 3 - Candy-O 4 - Panorama 5 - Move Like This 6 - Door to Door 7 - Shake it Up When Heartbeat City came out I thought they had "sold out" with the slick production and pop songs. I got burnt out hearing so much of it on the radio and MTV, so let's say that I didn't have the same appreciation for it that I do now. It's those very same things - the exquisite production and amazing songcraft that lead to so much enjoyment when I listen to it now. |
