replacement for MOFI beatles box set

Hello all,

a while back my wife said to sell the box set to fund a weekend getaway. Of course I duly obliged. Now she’s regretting it and wants me to replace the box set.

Not willing to spend that chunk of change for the MOFI ( plus I’ve always thought it a tad bright ), does anyone have any experience with the new re-issues out there. Doesn’t have to a box set ( I’ll buy single slabs of vinyl but the sound quality has to be very close to that of the MOFIs ). Vinyl only of course.

Appreciate any advice

Cheers, Crazy Bill

Single LP's can be cherry picked @ Discdogs with your preference for mono/stereo.

Doing so will require specific research yourself @ specialty sites, if you have not listened to them, as far as sonics go.

I prefer original UK mono recordings of some, Revolver/RS for example, but really don't have a problem with the original stereos from USA/UK either as I heard/enjoyed both in my youth.

I have a couple of CD sets of the BBC live recordings that I like for the very early stuff (kind of like listening to them on the radio;-) and I enjoy the chatter.

MMT is a must for me because of a couple of my favorite songs, but I do not care for the album on a whole.

I have and love the Parlophone set in stereo. Mono, does absolutely nothing for me. That is me. I have a friend that thinks he is a musician and thinks there is some greater fidelity in some nuance of tone. But then, I think he is crazy anyway.

I have some sets of MOFI which are truly terrible… I don’t remember which… but I thought they were hit or miss.

I would recommend the 50th anniversary editions of the titles that have been released so far

Also in the early stereo mixes the bass or bottom end is almost nonexistent and the panning of mono tracks/ instruments  to the left and right speakers is not an enjoyable or natural sounding experience for me.
Good luck on your replacement
