Mood lighting for listening

Mood lighting for listening.

Photos of my secondary system.

Loving my new MC Modern record cabinet. Now that I’ve added legs, I don’t have
to crouch down much to access the vinyl. This cabinet holds 1940’s-1962 music.
Red glass front and back, so the light shines through.

Adding that LED light strip gave it a nice magical feeling. I like the fact that it looks cleaner than looking at a bunch of record spines.

Parasound Integrated, and a couple of nice old Pioneer TT’s. Dali Helikon speakers.

Just a word. Some lights, especially LED's, cause radio frequency noise, which is not what your electronics need to sound their best. Quartz lights may be old and hot, but they don't radiate RF.

Mood lighting might be nice but I usually turn down the lights very low, or even off, when doing real listening if you know what I mean.

I've got room treatment, fabric covered pillers in the corners behind the stand mounts. On the pillers, the "now playing" album cover holder on one side and a sputnik lamp with very low wattage bulbs on the other. It's dark enough to reduce visual distractions, but light enough that I don't fall over my sleeping dogs when it's time to change a record. The last side of an album or streaming with a sleep timer takes place in total darkness.

I’ve tried some LED lighting and the ones with a transformer created a nasty hum when turned on. Waste of money.
