trying to upgrade speaker cable: Audioquest type 9 or Rocket 88

My system consists of Belles Amp and preamp. My speakers are Vandys 2 CE sig. I want to upgrade from Kimber  8TC to a better SQ cables. Contemplating the Audioquest type 9 or Rocket 88, 44. Tryng to keep it under $800 for 6'-8".  Has anyone with Vandys can recommend or have experience any of these cables.

The Audioquest (AQ) Rocket 88 with DBS system would be a noticeable upgrade, I suspect. AQ cables are a great match with Vandersteen (I have the 2CE SigIII). Vandersteen often uses AQ cables at shows, and most Vandersteen dealers sell AQ cables. You could keep your eye out for a used pair of the AQ cables that are a category better than the 88 (like the Folk Hero series), but I have been looking for just the right pair for a year! Elusive.

I STRONGLY suggest, and Richard Vandersteen does too, that you use a true biwire cable (not internally biwired single cable, which AQ does too). A pair of cables for each channel. You WILL hear the difference. A set of true biwire Rocket 88 cables will sound better than an internally biwired single cable of a higher/better series of AQ, like Folk Hero. That's what I have been told by people smarter than I including Richard V.

Contact John Rutan at Audio Connection in NJ. He is the guru with Vandy and AQ. 973-239-1799. A friend of mine has Vandy 2c III’s and John recommended Type 9 biwire and they sound awesome. And yes, definitely use biwire with Vandys.

I own both and am currently using the Rocket 88s in my system due to the better depth, detail and bass than the Type 9s. I'd be happy to sell you mine, but I have 12' length.
