What to do with gear which is beyond repair?

I had a malfuncitoning amp with lots of SMDs, made out of country, that no one wanted to even look at so I gave it to someone who had an interest in fixing it. Sat around for the longest time, staring at me and when I finally off loaded it, I had that Marie Kondo moment and felt really good about it.

Storing would probably be a mistake as you're kicking the problem down the road aka procrastination, and the stress/anxiety  of remembering this todo rears it's ugly head often many times later. 

Seems much better to deal with now to get it off your mind permanently.   Currently, finally working through my procrastinated projects.

What do you mean by ‘beyond repair?  Has someone tried and found parts to be unavailable?  Is it simply not worth repairing, although repair is possible?  What is it specifically?  There is almost always someone who wants a particular item even if others think it is a dog.  Will someone want it just for parts?  This sort of thing cannot be discussed without more specific information.

If you don’t have some technical skills, it will not make sense trying to strip it for parts—how will you know which part is worth salvaging, how will you know if the part is still good, etc.?  It would be better to sell it to someone who knows these things.
