8 Reasons why you should buy an $50,000 DAC

Penned some thoughts on my experience of why I invested in an Uber expensive DAC and how it turned out (more to come) , https://audiofool.substack.com/p/8-reasons-why-you-should-buy-a-50000

Hopefully you find it entertaining.

Brickbats, bouquets and anything in between most welcome.

Second was when I visited a world-class recording studio and saw what gear they used......to be written soon.

Unless the studio you visited specialized in audiophile quality recordings, don't be influenced by them.  Why do you think that great sounding recordings are the exception, not the rule?  Most recording studios couldn't care less about sound quality.

Sure, in a universe where everyone else has your anatomy, taste, room and ancillary gear.

Buy two and the 2nd one is 1/2 the price!! Plus we throw in a 2 liter Pepsi.

OP

you are feeling guilty about spending that kind of $ on a component and looking for validation from other audiophiles to assuage that guilt.
It reminds me of an alcoholic who seeks justification for their behavior from cronies in a tavern.

Just be upfront with yourself.  You can’t justify the binge as a value proposition.  You wanted the component, had the means ( hopefully) to spend into the stratosphere and you pulled the trigger.  Now enjoy it and don’t let the guilt inhibit the fun

@rsf507 perhaps you are correct but then again the cost of the interconnects, power cables and such reduce the $50,000 budget or result in unexpected costs increase.

Linn could provide me an excellent one stream/DAC… so I see options for a one box solution. But I don’t see myself spending that much on audio equipment.  Maybe speakers😀
