What makes speaker's sound big?
Nope! When I had my wharfedale diamond 225’s set up, prior to getting my tannoys, they more than filled the room with sound, imaged like crazy, with plenty of bass. The speakers often performed a disappearing act and sounds seemed to come from wel...
Is my anti-skating too strong.
Congrats on the music hall 9.3, great choice! I love my 7.3, was going to get the 9.3 but I did not like the overall look of cutout for motor, whereas on the 7.3 it looks better thought out. Of course yours is a step up from the 7.3 sound wise. As...
Embarrassed....Audio furniture help
I use a credenza that houses my home theater components. It is a very unusual design with a rounded/curved front facia, even the wood door/glass are curved (very cool!). On top is a 50 inch TV and a sound bar just in front of TV for when I’m lazy ...
Best integrated for my purposes - help me choose 1 of 3!
For $3250 you could get a Sugden A21se pure class A integrated...way better than any of those listed.
Speaker Upgrade Recommendation for Current Analog System - under $10,000 Budget
Tannoy legacy Ardens for that size room. You will not be disappointed. Hands down The Best for the money you are looking to spend, under 10k. They are 4k each, so 8k for the pair, under budget and gorgeous sound And looks. My Eatons are the 10" st...
Looking for a new phono preamp
Too bad, could of sold you my phenomena 11+ with linear power supply...sold on ebay. It was a great sounding set up. However, I’d have to disagree about tubes becoming noisy too quickly, as we are not talking power tubes, but tiny preamp tubes. Th...
Best cost no object tube phono
Maybe not the most expensive, but the Tavish adagio is a great phono preamp.
Visual Confirmation Bias
Funny when a meager inexpensive looked down upon lowly speaker like the wharfedale diamond 225 can do pretty much 80 to 90 percent right. Amazingly so at a paltry $449 list. If I somehow ran into trouble and had to ditch my much more expensive spe...
Recommendations for modern integrated with tone & balance controls other than Mcintosh
Maybe locate a nice Marantz pm15s1 or pm14s1. I own the 14s1, has tone controls and balance (via remote menu). Personally I never use the tone controls, but defeat them. These were two excellent class a/b amps from Marantz, before they went with c...
Disappointment with Pass Labs - I'm looking for something else
I'll second the Sugden recommendation. Warm, open, wide sound stage, 3d, powerful sounding despite the 30 watts, in speaking of my A21se.
Why do you need so much power?
Just get a sugden a21se, its class A and a good match to your Tammy's. 30 watts, all you will need. Mine is seldom turned past 10 am on the volume, plenty loud.
Looking for a black brushed mental bookshelf speaker
Ugh, mental, I mean metal speakers...why? Wood, wood wood......metal is for an automobile....I guess if you want to look at a phone booth in your living room, I prefer a furniture look.
Equal $$ for Phono OR Streaming?
Lol, you can be both a collector (of lp’s) and enjoy! Analog is well worth the effort and expense.
Top down or bottom up? Just asking...
Any speaker that I can use my car buffer and turtle wax on is not for me, ho ho ho.
Is my anti-skating too strong.
You should NOT have the antiskate on or connected while making alignment adjustments. That is last step. In adjusting your anti skate, find a record with lots of dead wax near the label. Place stylus in the dead wax and watch how quickly or slowly...
