Can cables of any cost and quality provide bass response missing in my B&W speakers?
In response to the idea of using 10/2 romex, there are one or two companies that are doing very large awg solid-core speaker cable like this.  However, in my testing, I have found that the awg of the solid core will dictate the frequency response....
Can cables of any cost and quality provide bass response missing in my B&W speakers?
@compass_rose - my point is not really to just get a larger cable.  It's to look for solid-core conductors.  I had a Beldon 5T00UP speaker cable, which is a larger 10awg cable, but it used a stranded bundle of copper.  When I switched to the Audio...
Can cables of any cost and quality provide bass response missing in my B&W speakers?
Uhm, your B&W speaker's bass response is going to be a limitation on the design of the woofer (i.e. xmax, free air resonance, etc.) as well as the design of the cabinet/port.  That being said, you can get stronger bass when you use speaker wir...
Review Audioquest Hurricane (part 1)
Pretty much the only "real" review on this thread is folkfreak.  Based on my experience with different types of cables, I would heartedly agree with his results.   The standard Audioquest power cords pretty much max out at 13awg.  They do use soli...
Integrating OPPO 105D in a home theater ?
elevick, you're talking about using a device as a "source selector", which your oppo can do.  I'm talking about connecting two analog lines directly to the amplifier input.  The Sunfire Cinema Grand has two RCA inputs and one XLR input FOR EACH CHA...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
There is one area where silver definitely makes a positive impact and that is with digital cables (including COAX and HDMI). Silver is a much better conductor than copper and will charge/discharge much faster. This is critical when dealing with di...
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
If you wanted to use NRG-1.5 for DC, you would have to strip away the outer insulation sleeve and then possibly solder in the individual wires.
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
There are 2 x 19awg conductors for the HOT (one blade), and then another 2 x 19awg conductors for NEUTRAL (the second blade).  We call this a 16awg power cord because there is 16awg for each blade.  On this particular cable, there is no ground, so...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
There are other subwoofers you can get.  Look at these on the ebay UK site:https://www.ebay.co.uk/b/Speakers-Subwoofers/14990?Configuration=Single%2520Subwoofer&rt=nc&_sop=3&_udhi=500 There is a Revel B120.  Also, several BK subs so th...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
The gain setting on the DAC just dictates how loud the output will be.  I would say to use Low or High unless you feel that the sound does not get loud enough.  You do have a volume adjustment on the back of the Yamaha, so I think any gain setting...
Integrating OPPO 105D in a home theater ?
It is never a good idea to connect two sources to the same target (.i.e amp).  The voltage from one source will feed back into the second source and cause damage to the circuits.Few things you can try:1. Connect a COAX digital cable from Oppo to D...
Help needed for a skeptic!
There also has been a lot of fake Furutech components and "look-alikes" from China.
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
If you do VH Audio, 18awg is what I would suggest.  Or use 18awg + 21awg to make the cable.  VH Audio has different colors you can order so that you can identify + / ground.  The Neotech wire is all red.
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
yeah, the total cable is 16awg, but it uses 2 x 19awg conductors for each leg.  I was going to mention that the Audioquest power cord is quite stiff.  If you want to completely strip the outer cover and then just use the individually insulated con...
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
Its good copper - Perfect Surface Copper, which is Audioquest’s version of OCC copper. Uses 19awg solid core conductors. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t use it. I think it would work well.  Stock DC cables are usually very small gauge stra...
