Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
hmm, that's interesting about the conductive negative insulation.I would assume the NRG-1.5 work also work just fine for DC cable.
Which watts are the right watts in SS amps?
Okay, I will bounce in here with a topic that NOBODY has actually put forth:  POWER SUPPLY.  There has been a lot of technical discussion above about how and why and if an amp can double the power on half the resistance.  In my opinion, this idea ...
Preamp - Processor for 2 channel music
Don't know your budget.  There are also some older HT processors that will be excellent and act as a multi-channel preamp.   Krell HTS 7.1, Bryston SP2 / SP3, Classe SSP-800, Krell S1200U.The older ones like HTS 7.1 or Bryston SP2 may need to be r...
Surround Processor Upgrade to improve surround music?
Okay, just for information, any sort of PCM audio through HDMI is never as good as through s/pdif COAX.  HDMI is a poor interface for clocked audio sources, such as PCM or DSD.  The sound of PCM through HDMI lacks dynamics and sounds very compress...
Help needed for a skeptic!
For additional data, I have an Emotiva XPR-1 amp that powers two subwoofers.  I have been using the Beldon 10awg stranded speaker wire (available from Blue Jean Cable).  I just recently converted to using some very old Audioquest Midnight 10awg ca...

@cleeds - listening tests.  I have used both solid-core as well as stranded conductors in both power cords and interconnects.  The stranded conductors have a brighter sound that is more "solid state".  The solid-core conductors just have a more "s...
Audioquest DC cables - why are there almost no high end DC cables?
Good quality DC cable should have solid-core conductors. Also, you really don’t need 12awg. Actually, you should avoid solid-core conductors that are this thick. Even though it’s DC, it still has a very high frequency draw (for high frequency audi...

Music Direct has many Audioquest models on closeout (as well as other things) for as much as 40-60% off.
Differences in sound in Parasound P3 and P5
Sorry, I couldn't tell you soundwise.  But my experience with both linear and switching power supplies points to my recommendation of P3.  I have converted several devices from switching to linear and have had an increase in sound quality every time.
Help needed for a skeptic!
In all cable R&D and testing that I have done, solid core conductors have beat stranded every single time.  I second the recommendation to look at Audioquest because of it's use of solid-core conductors.  They are not expensive cables if you l...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
What RCA cables are you using between the DAC and the Yamaha studio monitors? If you really wanted a sub, you could get one.  https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SVS-SB-2000-Sub-Woofer-Black-Ash-NEW/182943070158?hash=item2a9841b7ce:g:jzcAAOSwcj5ZP7PW Not a ...
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
If you have digital cable between satellite and DAC, you must go into the satellite menu settings and make sure that "Dolby Digital" is turned off or that you have set the sound to "stereo" mode.
Amp recommendation and setup advice please
If you used a 1/8" to RCA convertor cable to connect the TV to the Audio-GD DAC, you could be losing sound quality because of poor cable as well as poor audio from the TV.  If this is the only way you can do this, then there's nothing much you can...
Differences in sound in Parasound P3 and P5
The Parasound P5 is a current product, but if you look internally you will see a switching power supply and rather lean circuit board. The P3 is a discontinued product, but it has a beefy linear power supply and much more in the audio circuit.  I w...

Please take a look at this reference:http://www.rane.com/note110.html I had a ground loop problem with my pro audio stereo line mixer until I figured out that pro audio equipment is typically wired as "floating ground".  This means that certain ca...
