Can we have an "Ask Sean" catagory?
Jax2, I think more like a 15EEE shoe sized Bill Gates.
more punch/presence from Meadowlark Shearwaters
Try Krell - they are known for bass slam.I totally agree with Oz's glare comment.

Dynamic versus Electrostatic Part Deux
Lrsky wrote "redo the "question" in the form of a review".Doesn't Audiogon have a section for components reviews? Why put a speaker review in the discussion forum? In light of the title of the thread "Dynamic versus Electrostatic" here is a thought...
Audio Physic Virgo or Sonus Faber Cremona
"I love disappearing act more than anything else and if the AP is superior in this regards to the SF"AP is better in this regard. The cabinet puts less signature on the sound.Further, IMHO, I don't think the Cremonas need any more of the softening...
Stereo system Too Bright
Straight not stright.
Stereo system Too Bright
Cheap fix is aim the speakers more stright forward so the tweeter is not aimed at your ears. Put a couple of layers of tissues over the tweeter.
Is high frequency extension important to openness
"speakers with exceptional tweeters to an excellent job of separating both the sections and individual instruments in an orchestra"I would call this higher resolution not "openess". High frequency extension can give more detail. Metal dome tweeter...
Wilson WP 7, ATC SCM150ASL, or Meadowlark BH-2
ATC active 10's sounded better IMHO with ATC's own $3,500 integrated than the internal power amp. Active is still the better concept but when you compare $3,500 amp to ~500 internal amp what can you expect. The full size active 50's and 100's are a...
Speakers similar to Avantgarde horn
I agree with Ed_Sawyer. Sure the Solos are 1/2 the price of Uno's but they are no bargain even at that price IMHO. They don't have the magic of the Unos.
Wilson WP 7, ATC SCM150ASL, or Meadowlark BH-2
While I have not heard them side by side, I would take ATC active 100's in a second over Wilson. However, ATC 100's need to be played fairly loud to "come on song" - maybe 75 dB as a guess. They also have a smaller sweet spot as wide dispersion is...
My frugal dream be merciless
Dubzilla, Musical Fidelity A3 is an integrated that sold for about 1k new. Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio was selling them new for $800 when the A3.2 came out.M-F is somewhat boring sounding as compared to, say, Krell which has some real kick to it. ...
Some thoughts about value in high-end audio
Fun doesn't have to cost a lot of moneyI just picked up the Panasonic PM03 which is pictured at the top of the page. Gonna take it apart, maybe a new DAC and a Noble motorized volume pot.Office Max GPX S7095SIL has a really cool 2 piece CDP / powe...
My frugal dream be merciless
Try the older Musical Fidelity, not the newer A3.2 stuff. M-F actually had a class A integrated about 5 years ago. Also the older X series was $699 new from Audio Advisor. As Hi-Fi Choice said of the older M-F stuff, M-F doesn't excite on first li...
$1130 system for a musician, please :
Ascend Acoustics CBM-170 are $328 shipped. Very clear, dynamic and analytical. These speakers would cost $1,000+ if they had wood veneer and were sold by a brick and mortar dealer. Less harsh than pro studio monitors IMHO but they are still very p...
