Is Direct Drive Really Better?
No offense at all, 4yanx. I understood what you meant and what the point of your question was. Macrojack is correct that the word humiliated can have a malicious connotation, but it also means humbled, which is the meaning I had in mind. I do acce...

Thom, I may be completely butchering which model Schroder you were using. I thought that only the DPS had the VTF wheel on the back of the weight but I admit that I'm not really familiar with the differences in Frank's arms. Doug, leave Nick alone...

Ok, how about "humbled"? Anyone is welcomed to go hear these tables and apply whatever adjectives they wish. The point is that once we had gone through the progession of 280-320-380 no one needed, or wanted, to go back and confirm what they though...

Doug, I thought of you and Paul right off the bat when I heard the pacing of the 380. Sorry to give you the bad news, but you guys need to start saving your spare change for this one. I would say the difference easily surpasses the differences bet...
Is Direct Drive Really Better?
I had the pleasure of hearing the new Teres 380 direct drive table (still prototype) last weekend in Dever. I won't say that it answers this question in absolute terms. I will say that Chris Brady has implemented a clearly superior Teres that will...

Saturday in Denver was, if nothing else, a tremendous amount of fun for me. As you can imagine, traveling almost 3700 miles in one weekend is very tiring and it really took a toll on my wife and me on the way home. Flight delays and cancellations ...

Yeah, this thing works great!

I'm confused as well, Albert. This scale looks to be just about perfect for taking a reading with the stylus at the same level as it would be sitting on an LP. Just place the scale on your platter and take a reading. Couldn't be more simple. If An...

I'm not telling you guys nuttin' without yooze each send a small donation to my favorite charity. That being me. For an extra $5 I've give the audiophile approved cryo'd version.I'll probably post something tonight. I want to get my thoughts toget...

Hi Andrew,Just so happens that I received my order of this scale in time to take it with me to Denver. I didn't do any actual VTF measurements with it, but Thom and I did compare the readings to his scale and also test the metal with a pretty stro...

Rick! You dirty rat! (My best James Cagne!) :)I'm posting here from Denver, up before the rooster since I'm still on eastern time. Just to be clear I don't really see this as a shootout so much since there won't be a a/b in the same system with al...
Audio Research or Rogue
Audphile1,I was just poking fun at the way your comment struck me. "I've heard mixed things" and "but I'm not going to comment". Just sounded funny to me. I'm not offended at all.I bought the Rogue used for a temp solution while I await another pr...
General consensus on buying used eq.
All good advice. However, just so you know that it can be done if you're careful. I've bought/sold/shipped five TTs, several 100+ lbs. amps, preamps, phono stages, etc. with no problems. One thing I will never do is purchase a used phono cartridge...
Audio Research or Rogue
"I heard mixed things about Rogue, but never listened to one myself, so I can't comment on that."Well, Audphile1, you really did comment on that. ;) I think your idea of adding a phono stage is a very good one. Lrozatti,I've not heard the ARC gear...
2nd Rowland Model 1 to improve my Aerial 10Ts?
Another one sliding down the slope! :) Brian, I agree with your decision. Beemer is the one who taught me the ways of the 10t's. It's always easy to tell someone to go spend more of their money, but if they come to that conclusion it's all the bet...
