Power amp for Modwright LS100
A decent amp is just as important as rest of the components in the system.  I wouldn't skimp or settle on a cheap amp given what you're trying to put together.  I highly recommend KWA150SE, you can buy one used at 50% or less off full retail. I ow...
Would owning Hoover Dam improve the midrange?
OP, Thanks for sharing.  Can you imagine your own utility pole...I can hardly wait.
Core Audio Designs and SolidSteel HF Racks .....thoughts and opinions
Give Arnold Marr a call if you plan to use Core Audio Designs PlyKraft with HRS MX-3 platforms. I have owned few Core audio racks over 8 years and never felt the need to further isolate my components. The sheer quality of exotic woods and shelves ...
Bi-amping Rules
jrhud, what preamp you're using? And are you using an external crossover? I am looking bi-amping my 800D2's.
Bi-amping Rules
Kalali, my dealer recommended a pair of Aesthetix Atlas stereo amp for vertical bi-amping.  It's a hybrid amp with a built in crossover. I am working on a plan to try them out in next month or so.
solid state amp power
Try Modwright KWA100SE.  Plenty of power with fabulous mid-range.
Audio Research Reference 6 Preamp Review
dev, thank you for your candid feedback. I am looking for a opportunity to audition LS28 and Ref 6.  Initial reports do indicate trickel down technology in foundation series from reference line.

elem79, I am digging the 'new' look as well.

jhconnor, typically one box solutions are not considered 'no cost object' designs. Let's be fair, how about asking this person a direct comparing between the 40th anniversary edition and Reference 10?http://www.audioresearch.com/en-us/products/pre...

Thank you for your feedback and enjoy the Ref 6.

elem79, what is your opinion about SP-20?  There are couple of them on sale. I can't afford to buy a new Ref 6, so I am eying on LS28 or SP-20 to mate with my KWA150SE's.  Did you by any chance audition LS28 before you bought Ref 6?
Equipment Rack
Also look at Core Audio Designs, I never felt the need to throw away my money in isolation tweaks. Solid hardwood construction with dampening materials in every shelf.  I own a pair of PlyKraft's and amp stands for now 5 plus years.

In my experience several gears over the years, the combination of tube stage preamp and solid state amps gives you the best of both worlds.

Thanks for posting the link. Nice review, $14K preamp is bit a stretch for my budget.  I am hoping for a review on LS28, it would be interesting to learn how does it fair against the Ref 6.
basic passive preamp
I would look into Tortuga passive preamp. http://www.tortugaaudio.com
