Do you have a speaker that’s not a big name maker but punches above its weight? Why?
I used to own Fritz speakers - those would meet that description....
San Jose CA
Have you joined up with the SFAS (San Francisco Audiophile Society)? The name is somewhat of a misnomer as I haven't seen them have even one event in San Francisco, but I think many of their get-togethers are in South Bay. I live in SF and don't d...
Is AI going to kill Hifi?
'Hi-fi is already dead'? That's quite the pronouncement; I hadn't realized. Guess I better get rid of my dead gear.
The cool factor- who has it?
The Monkees released some great pop records, whether written by Neil Diamond, Boyce & Hart, or themselves. Mike Nesmith had a long career in country music (and yes, I knew about his mom and White-Out). 'Head' also had Frank Zappa; what a fun m...
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
@vthokie83 - Yes, I've read some of your posts on other threads and they've been very informative. I appreciate your opinions on these. Aric sure seems to put some serious mojo into his gear based on every single review or opinion I've read or se...
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
@gkr7007 - I did indeed look into the Spatial Audio Raven, but it's too big for the space I have available; same reason I didn't look farther into the Aric Audio's preamps; if I had the space and could figure out some way around the lack of mute o...
John Hawken anyone?
I haven't heard that name in a long, long time, but you jogged my memory and I agree....
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog - and I believe that was when they returned to their ancestral home after wandering the desert for however long they wandered the desert for.
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog - I don't do operas and the only time I've seen the symphony was with Metallica at Berkeley Community Theater and with a band, at the symphony hall, doing the music of Jerry Garcia.  A number of years ago I decided to take a Gideon's...
Is AI going to kill Hifi?
@sns - thanks for your explanation of the white lotus in Buddhism and your interpretation of various things in the series.
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
@triton20trx and @ei001h - thanks - I know about tube rolling; I've upgraded tubes in both my Herron components and in my 2 tube headphone amps, including one with a couple of WE 300B's in it (and those were well worth the $1200). And yes, when I'...
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
@ei001h - Oh, I'm hip to Vinnie Rossi, and I believe every word you say about his Brama preamp, but alas, budget won't permit. Thanks for your suggestion, and you are right about that combo of MSB and Marten. I seldom if ever see an MSB S-200 powe...
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog - Indeed, he may have resided in the Bay Area for awhile. His record label, Takoma Records, was named after Takoma Park, and there are lots of suburban-DC Maryland references in his song titles, like 'Dance of the Inhabitants of the I...
Batteries are Cheap, Backup power is expensive
@erik_squires - I know, I get your point, and it's a good one.  As somebody who lives in an apartment and doesn't drive, to me 'UPS' is a delivery service and 'F-150' is some kind of fighter jet

As a veteran of many cruises of all types since the 80's, I can say you have to pick your cruise with some care. If you sail on Carnival or another party cruise line, don't complain about unrefined 'brutes'. If you sail on the QEII, don't complain...
