@robshaw + 1; thank you...
Suggestions for a holographic preamp?
Thanks for the responses, and thanks in advance to anybody who wants to chip in.  @ghdprentice - to me, 'holographic' just means a 3D soundstage where there is perceivable depth to the sound as well as width and height. My current Herron preamp d...
Local pickup for speakers - should I let the buyer in the house or use the the garage?
@pindac - why do you think that cash sales should be avoided? Cash sales are always my first choice when selling something.

Besides their sound, something else I like about Fritz speakers is that they're designed and built by Fritz himself, and he's more than happy to chat with you at length about anything on the phone or in person. I bought a pair of his speakers and ...
Outer Vinyl Sleeves, is it a good idea?
@porchlight1 - I've slid the outer sleeve over the open end for years, ever since I tried it the other way and it was a real bear getting them into and out of my LP shelves without the sleeves wanting to remove themselves....
The cool factor- who has it?
@jnovak - I always liked that 'great folk scare' - did you ever see the movie 'A Mighty Wind', which was made by the same people who did Spinal Tap, but instead of metal, it deals with the folk music scene and their band is called the Folksmen. Th...
Three best audiophile CD/LP in your collection
@vinylrestingplace - Chazro waited longer than a minute - more like the 15 years it's been since he posted that in 2010!
Let's talk music, no genre boundaries
@audio-b-dog - That Ken Burns Jazz series is great, yeah? I don't even like jazz and I thoroughly enjoyed that...
CD's or Vinyl?
Sorry for the off-topic...  @artistx - I'm a fine-art photographer too and am currently working on putting together a few books. I also used to be a concert photographer through the 70's.

Outer Vinyl Sleeves, is it a good idea?
Depends how much ring wear on album covers bothers you, I suppose. I try to avoid ring wear so I use outer sleeves.
CD's or Vinyl?
Vinyl for me, if I was forced to pick just one. I like the larger size for the album art and I've got a great analog system... But I really like both, and there are some great CD box sets that will never be available on vinyl.

@audio-b-dog - that Laura Nyro song is called 'Stoned Soul Picnic'....
Focals latest - Cat Houses?
@ghdprentice + 1 - Totally agree about having fun with nationalistic stereotypes (as long as all participants are on board with it and not immediately offended); I remember Graham Parker's band The Rumour put out an album called 'Frogs, Sprouts, C...
Local pickup for speakers - should I let the buyer in the house or use the the garage?
@hbarrel + 1 - I've sold 3 or 4 sets of speakers this way and never had any trouble; I also live in a secure apartment house and I don't worry about burglaries, either.
