Graham Phantom II + Dynavector XV1's need help
This won't cure your main problem of channel imbalance, but I think you also said you have more crosstalk from on one side vs the other. It could be that when you played with azimuth in order to try to cure your channel imbalance, you threw it out...
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
The diodes are by and large Germanium types. No one uses those any more except in special applications. They have a low forward voltage drop, compared to some other even more modern types, so probably they should not be "updated" indiscriminately....

How about 1 pF?
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
Sorry, Lonestar, I thought you needed a copy yourself. I have one already that I bought from Soundfountain. (So it is not in e-format, only a hard copy. Soundfountain sends hard copies from Germany.) Thank you for your kind offer, however.
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
I am not certain whether it is available as a "free" download, but you can buy it for a very reasonable sum at Soundfountain. Look in the SP10 section. The Owner's Manual of course can be downloaded at Vinyl Engine.
SP10 Mk II vs Mk III
Are you certain this is a list of electrolytic caps, or is it a list of ALL caps used of any type? For example, I find it hard to believe that they used a 1 pF (that's picofarad) electrolytic. That's a teeny tiny value. Even the 1uF caps are likel...

Herman makes some excellent points. There are many folks who dabble in the "high end" who are convinced that single-ended circuits are inherently advantageous (in fact), because fewer parts are needed to construct them vs balanced circuits. I disa...
Which wand for Morch DP-6
Mofi et al, Don't those designations for the Moerch arm wands (in grams) refer to the tonearm effective mass, rather than to the weight of the cartridge that is to be used with that particular arm wand? It makes a difference which.
How to convert VPI turntable to banlanced?
Is the WooAudio a full-function preamp, or just a linestage? Is it balanced? You can't determine that simply by the fact that it does or does not have XLR inputs and outputs. If it's only a balanced linestage, you will need a balanced phono stage....
How to convert VPI turntable to banlanced?
Seamaster, Most importantly, you need a true balanced phono stage. Without that, no cable is going to bring you the benefits (or liabilities, if there are any) of balanced operation. Try to find out about your phono stage before you spend any mone...
xlr vs rca
Herman, I have never seen a tube preamp or amp that achieves balanced operation using completely discrete amplification for the plus and minus halves of the signal. I wondered if you had, and I guess not. BAT most certainly does balanced operation...
xlr vs rca
Herman, I guess I should have phrased my question differently. I am aware of the Atma-sphere dual differential topology and how it works; I am just not aware of any other way to do it with tubes. Perhaps I should have asked how can you do it diffe...

It's amazing how audio myths and misinformation persist in the minds of audiophiles. I vote with Almarg. He is about the only person who got it all correct. Raul was not wrong, either. His response was just not complete. Others get part credit. He...
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
The 999 series would seem to be 0.1% less good than the 1000 series. Just kidding.
Who needs a MM cartridge type when we have MC?
I don't know what Raul will say, but vintage 9-inch tonearms from Stax, Sony, Micro Seiki, Grace, Audio Technica, etc, etc, are all way less than $1000 in excellent used condition, and all are excellent. I think (and I hope) Raul will say that the...
