How does relative humidity affect our music? Aside from the atmospheric change, does your CDP still sound "off?" Is there any way to see the laser module on your unit?
What happened to Bob Carver Tube amp Co website? No word from Bob yet, but here's some good theories and ranting.asylum
Focal Maestro Utopia , need advice for AMP/PRE "Czbbcl...I would listen to the speakers prior to any amp replacement and then if you feel it is necessary you may want to look at the Pass X600.5's"Not a bad idea; move up to the Pass X600.5 Monoblocks.https://passlabs.com/products/amplifiers/x.5...
Confused on tube types. Can someone help me out? By saying "12AU7 compatible" it could mean a ECC82 tube which is the same tube as 12AU7 but manufactured in Europe. Also it could mean a nearly identical tube such as a 5963, or CV491, CV4003 and 5814 (military grade).
Turntable placement Advise. Agree. Either wall mount it or buy a stand-alone table from IKEA or maybe 2nd hand. Then use isolation under the TT. Also you'll need a shielded phono/RCA cable for a longer run.
replace in wall cables? or not? You can do much better than Monster Cable. Blue Jeans Cable offers Belden 5000 which is highly regarded and inexpensive; about $1.00/ft. Also it's for in-wall use.from the website..."UL-listed and NEC-rated for in-wall use."http://www.bluejeanscab...
What tubes and where to buy them? Conrad Johnson Pedrod45, that is a lot of tubes. Maybe you should invest in a used vacuum tube tester on Ebay. Different tube types last longer than others. ie; small preamp tubes can last for years vs. amp power tubes.
Accuphase A-65 or A-200 , can i import from Japan? Seems that Peter is correct regarding a step-down transformer.http://www.pricejapan.com/front/e_good_info.php?code=793&category=12
What tubes and where to buy them? Conrad Johnson Also Brent Jesse...http://www.audiotubes.com/12ax7.htmOn this page he provides info on the various brands and describes their sound. Then click on the various tube types for pricing. He always responds to email questions.
just an observation for comment The LP collector rule of thumb is to seek the original LP from the first stampers from the country of the recording's origin. Its rare that any reissue will sound better.Totally agree with those reissue findings. But in the 70s and 80s very often ...
AR 3 Speakers They are a very famous and rare speaker. I have some AR-11s from the 1970s collecting dust and drying out.
Dissapointed with import LPs..... I have also found late 60s and 1970s classic rock to have plenty of deep bass. I also agree with Elizabeth's findings; a band recorded in the US is not going to have a better import pressing. But I have multiple copies of British bands where the G...
Dissapointed with import LPs..... Are these imports digital re-releases of Montrose and Meatloaf or the original analogue pressings from the 70s? (analogue import vs. domestic?)
Focal Maestro Utopia , need advice for AMP/PRE "However, it demands to be used with amplifiers unfazed by its wicked load impedance in the upper bass."...From the review: your Pass qualifies.Don't be influenced by your dealer that you need a new amp.
Focal Maestro Utopia , need advice for AMP/PRE I can only dream of owning speakers such as those Focals. But to answer your question, the Pass amp should easily drive them. Focal Maestro Utopia has high sensitivity and your X350.5 puts out 700 wpc into 4 ohms. The Focals are rated at 4 ohms, b... |
