Anyone have experience with Cogent Field Coils?
Duke,At present I plan to use the woofer and cabinet from my JBL L-200 speakers. I will bypass the XO and horn in the JBLs and mount an ah300 wooden horn on top. Thinking of using a 2 inch coax driver. Crossover from the woofer would be around 450...
Anyone have experience with Cogent Field Coils?
Somewhere in this great land I am sure there are those who can lay out $14,000 for a pair of drivers to use in a DIY speaker project. Not I, however. So Cogent is not a realistic consideration for me. What else should I consider at maybe 10% of th...
Hey Audiogon how about a DIY/Horn section?
A very good idea. I have become convinced that a well executed horn system is the most realistic reproduction available. And the eccentric gear idea is great because I'm tired of the boring same as last year crap that issues relentlessly from the ...
My speakers don't "dissapear"
Leave your door unlocked. It may take awhile but they will disappear forever.

Duke - Which horns did you feel worked best? I'm very interested in Bill Woods Acoustic Horn AH 300 wooden horns. The field coil option may be too expensive for me. Do you know what Cogent charges for theirs? If I can't afford the field coils I'm ...

Both of my boys were born at home to the strains of Pachelbel's Canon in D. The music never stopped and now they both play instruments themselves. It's the toddler stage you want to worry about. They climb. They knock things over. They smear food ...
Time to change. But to what?
I'll agree with Learsfool on this one. Horns and triodes provide the most realistic representation available. If you can live with a retro look, there are still some treasures to be found from yesteryear at reasonable prices.
Buying used vs. New
I don't care about the rules that Learsfool sets for himself. There are lots of other better informed buyers for my stuff. By the way, Zu Druids used to sell new for $2800/pair. The revised model lists for $3400/pair. They both sell instantly for ...

Kal's right. They cease to be bagels after about 6 hours. After that they are just dough.
Food: What does the typical audiophile eat?
First you have to find a typical audiophile. Then you can ask him what he eats.
new tubes on auto-bias amp,can be done by anyone?
If amplifier is truly auto-biasing, you don't need to use matched tubes. The amplifier circuitry will match them for you. Best to do this before you turn the amp on after it is cold. Also, I don't know what tube rolling means to you, but you need ...
