McIntosh MC302 I had a MC252 and was looking to upgrade to a newer model. I almost went with the MC302 due to size to fit in my cabinet. After listening to the MC302 and MC452 I went with the higher-powered MC452. I was able to fit in my cabinet after removing t...
Dynaudio Confidence or Sonus Faber monitors I use a pair of Auditor Ms with a REL B2 with great success in a room 12' X 18' X 8'. Prior to the SF I had Dynaudio 52SE - a very fine speaker for the $$. Dynaudio makes fabulous speakers along with SF. I prefer the visual presentation of the SF....
Your favourite cartridge I second the Lyra Delos - a fine specimen of engineering design. The retail price of $1500 is the highest I have paid for a cartridge to date.
Dynavector 20x2 High or Low Output? I sold my lightly used (<100 hrs) DV20XH for $400 recently.
Which cartridge for Graham Slee Era Gold V? When ihad my Graham Slee I used a DV20XH with it and the pairing was very good. Also used a Rega Exact with same results. Most HO MC cartridges will woork fine with the GC Era Gold.
Dynavector 20XH W/ Rega P5- Less Bass Than 10X5? When I had my DV20X on my P7 I had to get the Rega heavyweight (130g vs 100g standard wt.) and used 2 2mm spacers. My dealer set it up. Needed the heavyweight due to the heavier cartridge.
Experiences with McIntosh MEN220 Room Correction? Take a look on Audio Afficionado under the McIntosh folder - some discussions there about the MEN220.
Tube pre-amp upgrade from Mcintosh C2300 Tube rolling - let me save you some time. For the C2300 get some Psvane Treasures from Grant Fidleity (Ian Grant) OR some Gold Lion reissues (Jim McShane). I must have tried 10 different sets of tubes (Amperex, Mullard, Telefunken, Mazda, Sovtek, ...
Correct amp for Dynaudio Audience 42? With my then Audience 52SE I used Rotel electronics (RC1082 & RB1092)and these little bookshelves really belted out the tunes. I had them stand mounted which I really recommned for your 42s. If you go this route mass load (ad sand/lead shot to...
Lyra Dorian load I run my Lyra Delos @ 200 ohm - really could not tell a differnce between 100 ohm and 200 ohm. Most Lyra cartridges come with instructions onhow to claculate the load based upon arm capacitance and ICs.
Turntable leveling... I will first get the cabinet level and then level the TT. It is a shame that Rega does not allow the feet to be adjustable. I tried spikes on my platform intially but the table would pick up noise from my cabionet when I touched the drawers or doo...
New Lyra Delos wheres the bass? I am quite happy withthe bass on my Delos. using with a rega P9 and McIntosh C2300 tube preamp onboard phono stage. Loading right now is at 200 ohms. I have baout 30 hrs on the cartridge. This replaced a Dynavector DV20X H.
mcintosh c-2300 vs mcintosh c500 phono section I do not have first hand knowledge but have read that both phono stages sound the same. The audible difference happens when you step up to the 1000T
Sonus Faber Auditors as mains in HT I use the Auditor Ms in a 12' x 17' room and they more than fill the room with sound. The Cremona Ms would have bee too much speaker for my size of room. |
