Review: Martin Logan SL3 Speaker
I have owned or listened to almost every speaker Martin Logan has ever made, (I was also a Martin Logan dealer) and the SL3 remains one of my favorites. Excellent speaker. 
Upgrade path the same for cables ?
Cables are very system dependant. Money makes no difference. You might find that the $100 cable in your system sounds better than the $1000 cable. 
Getting hooked on 12" 45 rpm reissues

PS Audio GCPH for just a little more money would be my choice. Excellent unit for the price.SimAudio LP3, (around $300 used) would be my second choice.
